The worst event I saw today was Kun Kru in Kun Khmer. Athletes act like they got spirits on their body no martial art as such and as expected the host won both golds. It has to be the most rubbish event at any multi sport game in the 21st century.

I wasn’t particularly enamored by the “show” event in ju-jitsu either. I get the point of it (demonstrating forms through a performance), but it just wasn’t for me.

It must be said the the local organizers have done a great job of dressing the venues. They all look very nice and professional from what I’ve seen so far.

If anyone tries to discredit the hosts, I can assure you they're Indonesians

This tv station streamed the less popular sports, worth following for the Games

:TLS Timor Leste wins its first medal of the games, a bronze in mixed doubles soft tennis. Except Brunei all nations have medalled on Day 1.

:BRU joins the medal table with a bronze in pencak silat. However, they won that by virtue of low entries and good draw. Hopefully they can win a couple matches and get a few more medals in the coming days.

Also, on the topic of pencak silat, does any have a replay from yesterday. I believe it was broadcast, but I couldn’t find anything in a quick search…

A silver for the women's team regu in Pencak Silat beating almost all of South East Asia just behind Singapore.

I haven’t found any other than indoor hockey and ju-jitsu, so feel free to pass along any you come across.

I can't remember now but every event is being streamed except outdoor events including tennis, cricket, cycling and sailing.

Billiards, pentaque and teqball I found dedicated streams. Pencak Silat was little tricky to find without single complete stream.

:CAM win gold in men's cricket. Just goes on to show that if you are not growing home talent you are always prone to losing when a new team can puts in the money. Either spend on developing a good home grown structure then automatically you get dividend or be ready to spend heavily on getting athletes from other nations (not sustainable). Malaysia and Singapore are learning it the hard way.

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
    • Idea (that I don't want to mess with right now, but someone else can steal the idea): Could feed the docs from LA28 + Paris 2024 through AI and see what it says.  (Would just take downloading them, perhaps merging them for ease of upload, and passing it through.)
    • If you have time would love to see a sport by sport overview of the changes/new sports
    • Slowly going through the documents.   Looks like canoe slalom qualifiers will be a bit different. More kayak cross quotas which will let nations to essentially qualify two kayakers.
    • How about we choose either Rome or Milano  I hate this timeline we have entered of multiple host cities / countries. The football World Cup became ludicrous, we don't need the Olympics to join them. At least not more than they already are.

    • I'm also reminded as I know Canadians are painfully aware that if figures hadn't been a part of the 1984 Olympics, then Brian Orser would have won gold.  Hamilton could have finished 4th in the free skate that year and still beat Orser who finished 7th in the figures
