:CAN Canada Predictions

Archery (1-2)

We qualified 3 athletes at the Dubai 2022 Para Worlds, and 1 athlete at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, which is what I’m basing the numbers on.

W Individual Compound Open- Karen Van Nest

M Individual Compound Open- Kevin Evans

Mixed Compound Open- Kevin Evans, Karen Van Nest

Para Athletics (18)

Greg Stewart (M Shot Put F46) has retired since winning Paralympic gold at Tokyo 2020, which is a big hit to our medal hopes. But we still have lots of chances with Riech, Lakatos, Borgella etc.

Men (11)

1500m T38- Nate Riech

100m T33- Brent Lakatos

400m T33- Brent Lakatos

800m T33- Brent Lakatos

1500m T33- Brent Lakatos

5000m T33- Brent Lakatos

Marathon T33- Brent Lakatos

Shot Put T20- Noah Vucsics

100m T38- Zachary Gingras

Boccia (3)

Para Cycling: (9)

Women (4)

Road Cycling

Keely ShawShelley Gautier

Track Cycling

Kate O’Brien, Keely Shaw, Mel Pemble

Men (5)

Road Cycling

Charles MoreauNathan Clement, Joey Desjardins, Ross Wilson, Michael Sametz

Para Equestrian (4)

Women (4)

Lauren Barwick

Roberta Sheffield

Jody Schloss

Winona Hartvikson

Goalball (6-12)

We’ll most likely qualify our women’s team, just barely missed out on a quota at the previous World Championships. I’m thinking our men’s team won’t qualify, with the Pan Am quota most likely going to either the US or Argentina, but theres a chance.

Para Judo (2)

Women’s -57kg J1- Priscilla Gagne

Women’s -70kg J2- Michelle Jorgensen

Para Canoeing (4)

Women’s KL1- Brianna Hennessy

Women’s VL2- Brianna Hennessy

Women’s VL3- Erica Scharf

Men’s VL2- Mathieu St-Pierre

Para Triathlon (4+1)
Men’s PTS5- Stefan Daniel

Women’s PVTI- Jessica Tuomela (Guide: Marianne Hogan)

Women’s PTS5- Kamylle Frenette

Women’s PTWC- Leanne Taylor

Para Rowing (4)

Mixed Cox Four

Wheelchair Tennis (1)

Quad Singles- Robert Shaw

Sitting Volleyball (12)

Women’s Team

Wheelchair Rugby (12)

Mixed Team

Wheelchair Basketball (24)

For the Women’s Team, qualification is likely. Men’s Team has been up and down lately, suffering a shock defeat to Italy recently, but they have arguably one of the greatest wheelchair basketball players of all time in Pat Anderson, I’d be shocked to see them not qualify.

Para Shooting (1)

Mixed 10m Air Rifle Standing SH2- Doug Blessin

Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prone SH2- Doug Blessin

Para Swimming (21)

Men (8)

Nicholas Bennett, Felix Cowan, James Leroux, Zach Zona, Matthew Cabraja, Nicolas-Guy Turbide, Alec Elliot, Phillipe Vaccon

Women (13)

Aurelie Rivard, Danielle Dorris, Shelby Newkirk, Katarina Roxon, Camille Berube, Sabrina Duschene, Nikita Ens, Tess Routliffe, Danielle Kisser, Angela Marina, Abi Tripp, Aly Van Wyck Smart, Jordan Tucker

Para Powerlifting, Para Taekwondo, Blind Football :whistle:

Total: 132-139 athletes (Canada sent 128 to Tokyo)

Think my predictions may be a tad optimistic :p but I’m not knowledge in all para sports, it’s possible that some of these athletes/teams have no chance at making the Paralympics.
