Nordic Combined at the Nordic Skiing FIS World Championships 2023

Very bad crash for Watabe, he's touching his shoulder and I think he's injured. :(

It's the 5th crash in 12 men's jump, jury should ask themselves some questions

Akito Watabe as well...

and when you consider somebody like Hirvonen who is a terrible jumper jump 95 meters, something is clearly not good :p

Back to competitions. Sadly our young team was not capable of beating anybody in mixed team event.

Today primary goal is certainly not being last and maybe not being lapped, we have very young guns, today Marjan Jelenko and Vid Vrhovnik are guests in our studio, with them 8th place would be possible, 8th is best place in history for our Team, if I recall, from 2011.

Nothing special, our commentators want to hype, how thrilling will be on ski course. Yeah right.

Norway already got gold, only question is, who will get silver, Germany or Austria.

As for our young team, 7th place was possible on ski jump, but jumps were shorter than in trial round. Even with 7th, USA and Italy, and possibly Czechs are too fast on course, so main goal remains complete ahead of Ukraine, and not getting lapped.

    • Ukraine has made progress recently and lost yesterday on penalties to the UK, but that still doesn't explain why the Italian team isn't making any progress. We are sitting in a lower division for 3 years and that's with a ban for Rus and Blr. New and great coaches are being brought in and it's not giving any results. 8-10 years ago we were regularly playing in the highest division, every 2 years and that was with a much stronger teams (Russia and Belarus were there). I don't know where the problem is.

    • Many things, probably they thought it is already over and the win will come itself... but also Nitra improved their play a lot, they outplayed us in physicality in the last 2 games, they won almost every duel. Was hard to watch. Anyway I am still persuated we will finish the job at home with success on Tuesday
    • If you look at their results this season and on the Super Series, it’s not really that surprising.    I’d consider them to be medal contenders.
    • At one point it seemed we were making good progress in this sport, but in the past 1-2 years things seem to have hit a standstill..   Ivaylo Ivanov is still our only elite judoka, but he is passing 30. There were/are some promising youngsters, but they haven't been able to make a jump to the senior level. At this Euro we barely had any first round wins (not including Ivanov). In fencing and taekwondo the results are much more visible for us.
    • yes, but that's only an (important) episode... I mean, what's up with your team more in general...it looks like they got the classic "fear to win", they're not as brilliant as they were in the early games of the series
    • after a few leagues ended well before the true climax, now we have both leagues from the good, old Czechoslovakia going to game #7    shame that both games will be at the exact same time
