I missed this, but last month the WFFD announced the countries qualified for the ultimate event in Flying Disc. Here is their explanation for how the quotas were allocated:

“The WFDF Ultimate Committee led by WFDF Vice President Brian Gisel has considered whether a standalone qualifying tournament for TWG2022 would be feasible and it considered an early 2022 event proposal, but ultimately decided that it would not make sense. For that reason, and in light of the cancellation of WUGC 2020/21, the qualification of countries for The World Games 2022 will be based on Section 2 of the Qualification System for WFDF Ultimate World Games Events, Version 2008 – 1.1 (approved May 18th, 2008, and updated in 2019) which states: “The qualifying event for the World Games will be the most recent Ultimate World Championship event, which was held at least 8 months prior to the World Games.” In this case, the most recent Ultimate World Championship event is WUGC 2016.”

So the countries qualified in Flying Disc are: :AUS:CAN:COL:FRA:GER:GBR:JPN:USA

Poland is the only country that participated in Wroclaw that failed to qualify for Birmingham 2022.

Nations qualified/selected for Wheelchair Rugby: :USA:CAN:GER:GBR:JPN:SUI

Source: https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1109063/wheelchair-rugby-teams-for-world-games

The article doesn’t say what the qualification/selection criteria was, so I’m not sure how these teams were chosen. I do know that the tournament will be held in the “low point” discipline, which is a little different from the discipline that’s in the Paralympic Games.

Also, I finally found out the reason Kickboxing had its event program halved by the IWGA.

Excerpt from WAKO President’s letter to national federations informing about the 2022 World Games: “WAKO has been restricted to participating in one discipline, K-1 rules, in 3 male and 3 female weight classes, for a total of 48 Athletes. The reason for only 48 atlhetes is a direct consequence of ONE positive doping test at the last World Games in Wroclaw. We all have a responsibility to eradicate doping in sport, so I ask that you take specific measures to educate and improve the situation in your respective countries.”

The first qualification event was held in Archery. Below are the provisional allocations, since the world championships have precedence. NOCs left of the “/“ are guaranteed quotas, NOCs right of the “/“ are next line should any of the NOCs listed first qualify via the world championships.

Women’s Compound: :DEN:GBR:NED / :BEL:CRO:NED

Men’s Compound: :TUR:DEN:POL / :GER:RUS:SVK

IFSC has approved a new qualification system: https://cdn.ifsc-climbing.org/images/World_Competitions/210319_WG_QS_2022_EBapproved_timeline.pdf

This should also mean that the first qualified athlete under this system are known. These haven’t been confirmed by the IWGA on their qualifications page, but I believe these allocations are correct.

Men’s Boulder: Jernej Kruder :SLO

Men’s Lead: Sascha Lehmann :SUI

Men’s Speed: Danyil Boldyrev :UKR

Women’s Boulder: Viktoriia Meshkova :RUS

Women’s Lead: Viktoriia Meshkova :RUS

Women’s Speed: Ekaterina Barashchuk :RUS

    • What are the odds WTA/ITF has Kostyuk vs Potapova AO R1 just to see if the hand shake happens?
    • Malinin  opted for the 4-Axel in his Short Program, but faltered, landing him in 3rd thus far (and only 0.05 away from 4th!).  Surely he has the tools to rise back up in the Free Program.  (Also, perhaps this will serve to show him that he is in fact beatable.)
    • I think they incorrectly translated Ukrainian word "nahorody" - it is not a full synonym of "medal". Its cocrrect translation is "award". Meanwhile russian tennis playes switched for Potapova ->  Rakhimova ->
    • Ukrainian diver Lyskun switches allegiance to Russia, loses all medals | Olympics News | Al Jazeera   'loses all medals'   I would assume Al Jazeera could have been a bit clearer and mention this would presumably only be national medals. I mean, it's not like the Ukrainian federation, or any single federation for that matter, has the power to strip her of her world and European championships medals I hope (not for her sake, but because that would be a super weird precedent)
    • That's what I'd plan as well (except for MelFest), but I also know I am hypocritical enough to still want to watch the show and have a fun evening
