@vinipereira @thiago_simoes @hoversaBR The match commentator for the US v. Brazil games said that the sport is popular in Brazil, and that there are many clubs that play the game. Have you ever seen any?

We we only have two fistball clubs in the US.

It's only practiced in the Southern region of Brazil, and even so it's not even slightly popular (I live in the South and no one here knows anything about it).

Well the team looks damn good. They could cause a few upsets, and maybe even take the crown this year.

I guess, Fistball is only played in parts of South America with a high number of German emigrants. The former world championship hosts Novo Hamburgo, Llanquihue and Villa General Belgrano are certainly some of the most "German" cities in South America and the Brazilian squad for example has a lot of names where you can easiliy recognize the German descent.

Yes, my preview article alluded to that.

Chile and Brazil are getting ready to start what should be one of the most intriguing preliminary matches.

Damn, Brazil is looking great. They will definitely challenge for third if they cannot upset :SUI or :GER.

:BRA played like crap after the first two sets. They nearly held on to win 3-1.

Tough game for our guys, but they preformed really well. Super proud of them (especially since maybe 25-50 people play the sport in the US).

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
    • Today : Jordan 3-0 Egypt  This team will surprise us
    • option no.2 for sure, as it's been all this shitstorm organized by the nhl owners through their embedded reporters   ps not that the north american audience looks really aware of the hockey rules and habits outside the nhl (and around their game, too, since they look not to know that just a couple of weeks ago they played 2 nhl matches on an ice sheet of the exact same size of Milan's olympic arena)
    • Are we supposed to take Daly's word for it or is this just public posturing to try and shame the Milan organizers (which they certainly deserve for all the delays) in order to threaten NHL participation?
    • Well that was a disappointing opening ceremony. Not to mention the boss is late too...   Anyway this is another victim of bureaucracy, the initial creative director quit in October and we get this kind of show.   Original plan: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17EVayTpig/
    • Japan missed their last shot with hammer in the 10th last night against the Philippines for them to stay alive.  USA's remaining 2 games are against Philippines and Netherlands, so they have a tough road ahead, although they've already beaten Japan, so that helps for tiebreaker purposes.
    • They have already beaten Japan, so a win would them in a strong place.
