Interesting stat for GB:

They had 8 finalists in olympic disciplines so far:

Men's 200 free: 2 finalists (Richards and Dean) -> Both won a medal
Men's 100 free: 1 finalist (Richards) -> No medal

Men's 100 breast: 1 finalist (Wilby) -> No medal

Men's 200 IM: 2 finalists (Scott and Dean) -> Both won a medal

Women's 200 free: 1 finalist (Anderson) -> No medal

Women's 200 fly: 1 finalist (Stephens) -> No medal

Not sure if there is any other event where they could have 2 finalists, maybe men's 50 free or women's 400 IM.

and Paltrinieri is on his way home

he won't even try to defend his 1500m free title...he's gone for this year (and maybe forever in the pool) :cry:

Time catches up with everyone eventually. Amazing that he was able to win gold as a 28 year old last year, very rare to see old guys who are still competitive in distance events. Maybe he should try the 50 free ...

Milák, Dressel, Peaty out and now Popovici failing. All the biggest male stars with the exception of Marchand are in deep trouble one year before the Games.

Super Greg as well.

naaa...the problem is that he's been sick all year long

he had to stop training for at least a week/10 days 6 different times

if he can stay healthy, I think he can still be at the top of the game in the 1500m (the 800m should be abandoned, given the insane amount of people going below 7.40 and with margin), even if, personally, I'd like him to focus only on the 10km in Paris

however, it's clear that something went wrong in the Italian training camp

basically, we didn't swim a single PB in all the championship (the only people close to that were Ceccon, Quadarella and Miressi in the relay -but then he miserably failed the individual event)

that's not normal

correction, 1 single PB (Ceccon in his winning race over 50m fly)

that's it :facepalm:

    • thats true. If anyone observes the US election map then he can see that Harris dominated in NorthEast states and the Eastern Coast, exactly where the big economic centres are based (New York, New Jersey, Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco etc).   Also what i observe regarding politics in western europe is that Socialdemocratic/centre-left parties have become extremely pro-market and even neo-liberal and some traditional right parties have become euroscepticist and protectionist, exactly the opposite as it was in 70s-80s

    • Yeah, Trump is very pro-Olympics. I imagine he's pretty excited that he will get to open the games   Visas for some nations have always been tough and I do imagine some qualified individuals will fail to enter the United States (regardless who is President), but the IOC will likely sweep it under the rug.
