So no Lithuania sadly. Looks like Sysojeva's ride was not ready to compete so that's that. Often the undoing of small teams.

Also no Stremler for Poland.

So overall it is looking very, very good for Hungary. Especially with Toth and Pachl on the team.

Stremler injury

That is correct.

Lithuania would have been a big contender but their third horse was not fit to compete. Czechia and Estonia have enough to field teams but their chance would have been slim to none. Ukraine fell of the dressage map completely after 2021. And finally Russia (Tokyo 2020 qualifier) and Belarus are not allowed to enter.

Yikes. This might be the smallest field for an European qualifier in an Olympic team event.

Huh looks like the Hungarian team got weaker. Toth is out and Yom Tov went for an 8-year old Konfucius with only one previous GP. :mumble:

Toth will be replaced by Szokola, who is unreliable at best. He has been scoring as high as 68.5% (2021 Europeans), but also as low as 63% last month. Konfucius must be either a late replacement or a secret weapon.

I guess the competition will be tighter than it seemed. Maybe it will come down to Komjathy-Losonczy whose scores have been also unsteady lately. Who knows? At this point I even wonder if Israel can do something insane and steal the prize.

Yes. Thats possible.... Ahorner got a talented horse from Stremler ;) but should be easy pick for Hungary

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)
