that track was a disaster...it was a wrong project, with the walls exposed to the sun in all the mid-day hours (with all that means)...:facepalm:

 

moreover, the question of the high mantainance costs was a political fight between local administration and our NOC...both of them wanted the other to take care of 100% of costs, but our NOC is under financial control of our national government, therefore they can't give money enough to the national federations to take care of any venue, they only have money enough to manage the athletes' activity...

 

so, in the end it was the local administration in Cesana that decided to close down the track, with much damage to the Italian sport...

 

hopefully, the new 25-year agreement between the Italian Government, local administration and track owners should prevent a new disaster of that kind...

Why on earth should federation ask Germany to keep their tracks to themselves?? It's not like there is plenty to choose anyway.

 

And besides, German domination is pretty much at the all-time low...
