in the men's foil, :HKG Choi destroyed Imboden...:yikes:

meanwhile :HKG's no.1 Cheung Ka Long lost badly against :RUS Zherebchenko...

more :USA misery, Meinhardt also went out early...

and more :ITA misery...Avola went out with the no.4 :KOR Kim Dong su and now the only 2 guys reamaining for us (Cassarà and Garozzo) have to face each other in the round of 16...:wall:

not to mention that we don't have any girl left in the sabre competition...the best of all them, Rossella Gregorio, went out in the round of 16...:zip::hairpull:

And France out in women's team epee as well. Not good for them at all.

but this is great news for Italy (provided they end up at least in the top 4/5, better if they go on the podium, but I don't see how they could do it)...

There goes our incredibly small chance of Olympic qualification in Women's epee. I think for the first time ever Hungary won't have a single female athlete at the Olympics in epee since the introduction of the event in 1996. Our team was way too young, they need one more Olympic cycle to get experience.

Wow this Indian girl  She was soooooo close.

She was really good to watch. Even in R32 she trailed 11-14 but here from 8-14 to 14-14 each that's pretty close. She'll get the 20 points which would be quite good for her Olympic qualifying. However if she had won it, she'd have got 35 points which would somewhat ensure an Olympic ticket unless a Hong Kong or Kazakh fencer would do something unbelievable. Even if Japan wouldn't qualify a team, she would safely be the 2nd from Asia-Oceania region to qualify. But now its still not over, she has a couple of points lead for the 2 individual spots in the region.

right now our friend @MHSN will be jumping for joy...Iran beat China and basically secured an Olympic spot (now they are almost sure to be the second best Asian team behind the world's no.1 KOR)...
