Italy defeated USA in a very close match :cheer:

Not a great match for us, but at last ee are in semifinals

Not great match? Italy beat first seeded team and you said not great match. What you expected? 45:0?

I expect to see a better fencing :p It's not a point question, but it's about technical mistakes (like the Ross mistake on the 20th American point) ;)

a easier win was definitely possible...

the USA are highly overestimated in this discipline...all of those girls are absolutely nothing special...

CHN, KOR, RUS, ROU, FRA...all of those teams are surely better than them, even if the results have gone differently in the last couple of years...

by the way, this is a key win for Italy...if we can make the podium, our chances to qualify for the Olympics definitely improve a lot...

even if Ukraine's win over Poland is not a good result for us...

USA are first seed but not the strongest team...anyway, unlike 2015-16, the team is Fiamingo's only chance to qualify for the Olympics so she has to perform well for her own sake.

I think that this was perfect match for Italy. Great tactics, with very smart fencing. Isola an Fiamingo just great today.

no, it wasn't a perfect assault at all...slow start, both Isola and Clerici great on 2 stints but awful in 1 of the 3 bouts...even Fiamingo making it unnecessarily complicated in the last stint...

Do all people in Italy always have objections and everything is always negative?

Nobody:

Italian guys on site: THIS IS DISASTER REALLLY! Yes we won, but hey it is still not good.

Calm down people, just without tension, your team won, you have chance for medal and it is only important.

You probably don't realize how successful Italian fencing is ;) Getting "a medal" is simply not good enough.

    • I have reported this again and they said it should be fixed now, please let me know if you are still facing issues.
    • more countries added to the list of US ban    you can't travel to USA if you are from : burkina faso , niger , Laos , South sudan , mali , sierra leon ...
    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
    • Here's my calculations of the quotas.
