So much stuff was happening in the past days that I missed this news.

:HUN György Herczeg with a new U20 European record in men's javelin throw, you don't see something like this often from a Hungarian athlete in this sport.

84.94m at the age of 18: https://www.facebook.com/gerely.hu/videos/1200588723944009

Some news from :LTU nationals:

Day 1:

An injured Edis Matusevičius threw the javelin once, 80.23. That's the 5th start he needed for qualification to the World Championships. He's also leaving for Universiade right now.

Modesta Morauskaitė ran a CR in 400m. 51.83 - should qualify to Worlds too.

Airinė Palšytė came second with a miserable 1.83. Should still be enough to get her to Worlds as well.

Ieva Zarankaitė with 59.87 in Discus, she is gaining somewhat of a form, that will probably evaporate once she leaves Lithuania.

Day 2:

Mykolas Alekna with 69.30, that's his first 69+ throw after coming back to Lithuania. He will remain in Vilnius to train for the championships and won't compete anywhere until then. His brother Martynas and Gudžius didn't have a good time with 63 and 62 metres. Andrius was said to throw over 65, but couldn't stay in the circle.

Gabija Galvydytė 2:02.28, she will qualify to Worlds as well.

Greta Karinauskaitė ran a CR in the steeple, she decided against retiring this season and seems to be preparing for a WCH start.

Jogailė Petrokaitė with 6.54, good points for qualifications in 2024, but won't be enough for this year.

Beatričė Juškevičiūtė runs a 13.33 in Heptathlon's 100m. Hurdles. That's the 3rd best Lithuanian hurdle time in history

Day 3:

Aina Grikšaitė 14.05 and Dovilė Kilty 14.02 in the Triple jump, might get them both to Worlds, Zagainova third with 13.93, probably won't push her up the rankings as much.

Liveta Jasiūnaitė threw 55+ metres, not looking great, although there was a lot of rain.

Beatričė Juškevičiūtė fails her qualification attempt as she ends her heptathlon with 5905, with rather poor performances in shot put and the javelin, but over a thousand points in the hurdles and close to a 1000 in 200 metres.

Wanted to ask the same. We could see some really great performances:

Possible U20 world records:

Men's long jump (Furlani)

Men's javelin throw (Herczeg)

Women's javelin throw (Vilagos)

Women's heptathlon (Koscak)

Possible U20 european records (apart from those mentioned above):

Men's 800 m (Laros)

Women's 4 x 100 m (GB)

Possible championship records (apart from those mentioned above):

Men's 400 m (Szwed)

Men's 1500 m (Laros)

Men's 5000 m (Laros)

Men's 110 m hurdles (Diessl)

Men's 400 m hurdles (Kostic)

Men's 3000 m SC (Del Barrio)

Men's pole vault (Imsand)

Women's 100 m (Wedderburn-Goodison)

Women's 400 m (Manuel)

Women's 800 m (Werro/Ives)

Women's 3000 m (Caune)

Women's 5000 m (Caune)

Women's 100 m hurdles (Koscak)

Women's 400 m hurdles (Mashanienkova/Uta/Granat)

Women's high jump (Topic/Maes)

The 5 most interesting (in my opinion) talents on the men's side:

:NED Laros (800/1500/5000 m)

:HUN Herczeg (Javelin throw)

:ITA Furlani (Long jump)

:GER Gräber (Decathlon)

:UKR Brudin (Discus throw)

The 5 most interesting (in my opinion) talents on the women's side:

:CRO Koscak (Heptathlon/100 m hurdles)

:SRB Vilagos (Javelin throw)

:SRB Topic (High/Long jump)

:LAT Caune (3000/5000 m)

:SUI Werro (800 m)

I am sure that Serbia never had such a strong team at any level, they could finish top 3 in the medal table.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

    • Agreed. But OTOH, the chances of a Male Team pursuit medal also seem rather slim at the moment, so why the hassle of dropping someone.
