Athletics team championships with all NOCs must be a hell of organization stuff :p  just imagine the pole vault or high jump comptitions with 50 athletes

great to see canoeing slalom & shooting in, also kickboxing should be medal possibility for us here

Together with 50 but separated to 3 leagues to 3 competitions. So 16 in each.

Two mixed gender canoe sprint events have been included (K2 200m, C2 200m), and there will be no 1000m events contested. 5000m events have been dropped as well.

My breakdown of the men’s canoe qualifers from the European Championships. The system is a bit complex, so fair chance this isn’t totally accurate.

M C1 200m - :LTU:ESP:POL:GEO:HUN:CZE:POR:ROU:UKR:ITA:LAT:GER:MDA:GRE:AUT:BIH:TUR

M C1 500m - :CZE:MDA:ROU:ITA:BUL:UKR:ESP:FRA:POL:HUN:POR:LTU:SVK:LAT:GRE:EST
M C2 500m - :ESP:POL:GER:ITA:HUN:MDA:FRA:UKR:LTU:CZE:SVK:POR:GEO:GBR

All boat quotas filled, but 2 athlete quotas left over in C1. :LUX first in line for reallocation in C1 200m. There are no more eligible NOCs in C1 200m. However, if the remaining athlete quota place is applied to C1 500m, then it may go to :GEO.

2 athletes quota left in C2, one should go to :ROU. There are no other eligible NOCs.

W C1 200m - :ESP:UKR:CRO:POL:GER:GEO:FRA:HUN:MDA:GBR:CZE:POR:LTU:SRB

W C1 500m - :ESP:UKR:CRO:HUN:MDA:POL:GER:CZE:GEO
W C2 500m - :UKR:HUN:POL:GER:FRA:GBR:POR:ESP:CZE

10 boat quotas, and 14 athlete quotas left in C1. There no remaining eligible NOCs.

5 boat quotas, and 14 athlete quotas left in C2. There no remaining eligible NOCs.

Not really sure what happens to the mountain of unassigned quotas here…

Maybe two boats per nation will be allowed then?

It seems unlikely as the qualification system is pretty clear about one boat per NOC per event. They could maybe decide to apply them to women’s kayak or men’s canoe/kayak to invite countries that didn’t qualify a boat, or just decide to leave them as dead quota.

    • That was known from the start for  and will be planned for.   Sadly just the reality of sports in North America. Canada and the US are both huge, a flight from Vancouver to Halifax or from Seattle to Miami is north of five hours. Every sports league in North America has to deal with this kind of travel logistics on the regular, so none of this will seem particularly unusual to a North American player.
    • That’s not a long distance, it’s barely a 2h flight and there is no difference in timezone. Easily doable for fans as well.

    • That's so they can play in both venues in Canada.  Will mean that the UEFA Path A winner has to go from Toronto to Los Angeles and then up to Seattle.   Someone was bound to draw the short straw in that group since 4 of the matches are Central, but 2 are in Santa Clara.  Unfortunately, that's Algeria.
