Equestrian at the Pan American Games 2019

Recommended Posts

Start list for the dressage inspection.

Looks like there are several changes. Argentina and Chile are down to teams of 3. Mexico had to call up their reserve. Guatemala apparently no longer has a team. Brazil still hasn't picked four from five they brought to Lima.

Overall, the quality of the competition will be much lower compared to Toronto 2015. Pitty.

:URU Uruguay has an interesting couple of individuals in dressage... They have Jose Beca, who can easily be Agustina Bravo's grandfather. He was born in 1953, she in 2000. :d

Start list for the first day of dressage.

Looks like :PER Peru and :COL Colombia lost a team member, so they are left with teams of 3... Only :BRA:CAN:MEX will field the full teams...

Big tour combinations will be as follows:

:BRA Leandro da Silva (Dicaprio)

:BRA Pedro de Almeida (Aoleo)

:CAN Jill Irving (Degas)

:CAN Naima Moreira-Laliberte (Statesman)

:DOM Yvonne Losos de Muniz (Aquamarijn)

:MEX Martha del Valle (Beduino LAM)

:MEX Bernadette Pujals (Curioso XXV)

:URU Jose Beca (Zaire)

They will start at the end of the program, and each will receive 1.5% bonus, but only for the team competition. IMO, they should get an even bigger bonus, which should also count for individual portion, but alright.

Competition should be quite open. I'm hoping to see :DOM Losos de Muniz on the individual podium.

It's very close between Canada/USA for gold, and Brazil/Mexico for bronze. But at this moment I'd pick gold for Canada and bronze for Brazil.

Early scores:

:CAN Kellock 73.176% :yes

:BRA Dos Santos 69.029%

:MEX Leiva 63.971%

Mexico must discard this score...

If I'm not mistaken that was our reserve rider right?

    • Despite total domination by the Norwegian men (and yes, it's exhausting and boring), the accomplishments this weekend of Emil Iversen and Einar Hedegart are worth highlighting, despite them being Norwegian.    Iversen was dropped by the Norwegian national team after the opener in Beitostølen 2 weeks ago and was not taken to Ruka. Instead, he won both the 10k and 20k Interval Classic starts in Gålå in the Norwegian Cup last week, which granted him a spot on the start line in Trondheim. He took full advantage of that opportunity and finished on the podium in the skiathlon, and finished just off the podium in today's 10k Interval Freestyle. This definitely puts his name in serious contention for a spot on the Olympic team, which looked incredibly doubtful just a few days ago.    Einar Hedegart, the 24-year-old biathlete who decided to challenge the stereotype that biathletes are inferior skiers to their cross-country counterparts, just won the 10k Interval Start against all of Norway's best in a de facto Olympic trial.    Yes, it's exhausting seeing nothing but Norwegian flags on the men's side, but there can be excitement just beneath the surface at times.
