Harrie Lavreysen with a WCh-title again. What a phenomenal rider. But I'm afraid this was his last, because the Israeli Jakovlev will dominate men's sprinting from now on.

:roflmao:

give Mattia Predomo a couple of years to build up on his muscles...

Will Jakovlev be eligible to qualify for the Olympics?

I don't think so...he still competed for Russia at last year's Worlds.

unless the Russians give him permission to race for Israel, Paris 2024 is way less than 3 years away from his last appearance with the native Country.

I can't see Russia giving him permission or else others might follow his example.

Does anyone know what kind of nationality transfer is at stake ?

Regarding his ability to overpower Lavreysen I'm all eyes. His unofficial WR was set on a very quick track so he may not have the edge that this performance suggests. And the gap itself is not that big time-wise, mind that even when Hoogland manages to equal Lavreysen's times, he's still unable to beat the latter. Yakovlev is really good strategically though, so we'll see, in the Track CL hopefully.

I’ll update when it will be certain but right now besides the certainty of him representing Israel the question of when he will begin is unknown

thanks...

but remember, most likely for UCI he'll be allowed to represent ISR as soon as he gets an Israeli passport (or he's registered by the ISR cycling federation), meanwhile it's a totally different story to become eligible for the Olympic Games (the rule is strict and clear: 3 years from the last appearance with the old Nation, unless they give him and his new Country an official written permission).

and for Yakovlev the 3 years won't be done until October, 25th 2024 and a Russian free pass is very, very unlikely.

    • Yes, he is ones of the first supporters of Milei, owner of one of the most important stock market of Argentina (Bull market), he was peronist and for "unknown reasons" start to be libertarian.   Even being libertarian in my case, i have to admit that him is one of the dumbest of "Milei supporters" and a clown when  he is in TV, he made me feel  embarrassed in many occasions.   Camila Giorgi being with him is.......inconceivable.
    • Ya but the replacement is Pat Bondi, a choice that is only better in so far as Pat Bondi isn't credibly accused of having had sex with multiple underaged girls.   Also, you might recognize this name: Pete Hoekstra has been nominated to be the US ambasador to Canada.
    • Camila Giorgi has a new BF Ramiro Marra. Apparently he's some politician/journalist from Argentina. One of Milei's supporters dare I say? @LDOG@konig
    • Skeleton Tour moves on to Yanqing  this weekend.  Asian Cup races tomorrow, then the World Cup on Saturday, and then possibly more Asian Cup next weekend before everyone moves over to Altenberg for the start of the full Skeleton / Bobsleigh tour again.
    • 2-1.   But it's good to have a great champion in the squad. I've been waiting for this my whole life. I wish we had such stars in every sport.
    • But he beat Mouat, who seems to be almost unbeatable
    • Argentina has a really solid lineup, especially if they have prepared seriously for this event. Of course they don't have a champion like we do, but in this format it is enough to win 1 match to play the decisive doubles.
    • Today we must to beat Argentina. It looks like Sinner will have to win all the singles and doubles for us to defend the title. So far, the 2nd and 3rd favorites before the tournament have already been eliminated: Esp and USA.
