Nothing too interesting in Pool B. Korea will hope their disastrous tournament doesn't get worse against the Czech Republic. Japan and Australia face off for the top seed in the Pool. Final day in the Pool of Chaos (Pool A). Sunday is going to be a lot of fun. Here's the scenarios: Scenario 1: Taiwan beats Cuba, Netherlands beats Italy: Taiwan finishes 1st. Netherlands finishes 2nd. Cuba is forced to requalify for the 2026 tournament. Scenario 2: Cuba beats Taiwan, Netherlands beats Italy: Netherlands finishes 1st. Cuba, Panama and Taiwan are tied at 2-2. Cuba would finish 2nd based on the head-to-head tie-breaker. Italy is forced to requalify. Scenario 3: Taiwan beats Cuba, Italy beats Netherlands: Taiwan finishes 1st. Italy, Netherlands, and Panama are tied at 2-2. Since they would all have a head-to-head record of 1-1 against each other, the next tie breaker is used which is runs allowed per innings defended. Cuba is forced to requalify. Scenario 4: Cuba beats Taiwan, Italy beats Netherlands: All 5 teams finish at 2-2. Runs allowed per innings defended would be used. Right now, here's the runs allowed stats. Netherlands: 0.444 Cuba: 0.538 Panama: 0.600 Italy: 0.615 Taiwan: 0.889 actually, it's runs / defensive outs (so, the 3 extra outs played by and help them in the standings)... updated after destroying cub 0.139 ned 0.154 ita 0.191 pan 0.194 tpe 0.295 are basically safe (PAN & TPE are done, ITA could only overtake them if they win X-0 in at least 11 innings vs must win by 4+ runs vs (but allowing not more than 5) in 9 innings to go through to the next round. chances to avoid "relegation" are only losing or winning but allowing 17+ runs to the NED. JoshMartini007 2,536 Posted March 12, 2023 #357 Share Posted March 12, 2023 The chaos scenario happened! The qualification group with Chinese Taipei will be useless, I feel sorry for the other five teams that will have to compete.
Olympian1010 7,972 Posted March 12, 2023 #358 Share Posted March 12, 2023 Honestly, a lot of jersey designs this edition leave quite a bit to be desired. are probably the worst three though. “Sport has the power to change the world. If it follows the same structure as the last qualifying tournament, then the other 5 teams will still be able to compete for another spot.
