The IOC doesn`t recognize this new country under the Taliban? I'm sure the flag has been changed and the one at the top is no longer valid in Kabul. I remember that during the first Taliban's rule in Afghanistan, this country was excluded from the Olympics in Sydney 2000 for missed to respect women's rights.

Basically yeah. All is said on the above tweet. The NOC in exile is recognized (so we will remain with :AFG) and the de facto government is not recognized at all. 

Not sure what to think of that... in this case everyone who is currently inside Afghanistan has no chance of participating in sports.

I think Jorge Antonio SALHE lives in Chile (a country with a big Palestinian community), but not so sure.

Unfortunately the Taliban regime doesn`t seem to recognize sports at all, so the level there is very low and it used to be like that. It`s a pity that a government like that in Iran or Pakistan cannot be established in Afghanistan, where there are normally sports federations and these countries win medals in various disciplines. Btw., during the pro-US government in Kabul, sport in Afghanistan was also very weak. As you can see, this is a serious and deep problem and the constant confusion in this country doesn`t allow us to change it.

      Shades of 1998 with  and  in the same group but this time it's really a terrible draw for the Thistles. I recall Brazil and Scotland played in the same group in 1974 and 1990 too so that's quite a high probabiliy rate.

      I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.

      One of the worst possible draw for us. Group really easy but having to face  or  in the Round of 32 is devastating.
