copravolley 126 Posted June 13 #54 Share Posted June 13 The IOC doesn`t recognize this new country under the Taliban? I'm sure the flag has been changed and the one at the top is no longer valid in Kabul. I remember that during the first Taliban's rule in Afghanistan, this country was excluded from the Olympics in Sydney 2000 for missed to respect women's rights. All is said on the above tweet. The NOC in exile is recognized (so we will remain with ) and the de facto government is not recognized at all. Not sure what to think of that... in this case everyone who is currently inside Afghanistan has no chance of participating in sports.

Unfortunately the Taliban regime doesn`t seem to recognize sports at all, so the level there is very low and it used to be like that. It`s a pity that a government like that in Iran or Pakistan cannot be established in Afghanistan, where there are normally sports federations and these countries win medals in various disciplines. Btw., during the pro-US government in Kabul, sport in Afghanistan was also very weak. As you can see, this is a serious and deep problem and the constant confusion in this country doesn`t allow us to change it.
