Almost historic result for the german team. Can't even remember the last time Germany had 3 women in the top 10. Especially promising result for Emma Aicher (born in 2003), now she finished top 15 in both slalom and downhill this season already. There can't be many other women who are currently able to do that (probably only Gisin and Shiffrin).

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Pleeeenty of changes in the circuit lately.

Men

Ga-Pa speed event weekend definitely cancelled due to lack of snow

Cancelled Super-G´s from Lake Louise and Val Gardena will be moved to the next Winter Olympics track in Cortina d´Ampezzo (28th and 29th January)

Women

Changes also this weekend in St. Anton, the organizers had to change the schedule (originally Downhill and Super-G) and cut the downhill out of the plans. So instead of schedulled W Downhill tomorrow we will have a Super-G and another one on Sunday.

Also Špindleruv Mlyn will have 2 W Slaloms instead of GS+SL combination, in the opposite Kronplatz will have now 2 GS instead of originally schedulled one.

That looked like a very nasty injury for Franzoni :(

Not even a hard crash in terms of speed, but it looked like he got into the netting very unfortunately, kind of looked like it snapped his leg back....

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.
    • Marian Kasprzyk (boxing) - 1964 Olympic Champion & 1960 bronze medallist passed away at the age of 86.

    • Off to Milan for the 145th session of the International Olympic Committee. Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.
    • another wave of mega rain is coming in north Africa
    • What is happening in Canada , people leave it  They say life is very expensive , you cant find an appartement , the salary is miserable    is it the multi tax of Trump?
    • Weightlifting We now have six events per gender with a total of 10 athletes per event.   The Olympic Qualification Rankings will be based on the sum of the total results of five events (three from period 1 and two from period 2). The top 8 will qualify.   The 9th spot will also be based on the OQR, but it will go to the highest ranked athlete from an unrepresented continent.   The 10th spot will be split between the host and universality (3 each per gender). Should the United States qualify normally then their host quota will be reduced, first going to an athlete from an unrepresented continent then to the overall highest ranked athlete.   Additionally, a "Best Lifter" will be awarded which would give the nation the chance to qualify 4 athletes rather than the max of 3.
