I'd prefer Uzbekistan or Thailand but not Qatar.

Uzbekistan could definitely get the job done, not sure about Thailand. They definitely could if they choose the organizing committee well. Malaysia and Singapore the SEA countries I’d most prefer as hosts.

The television broadcast Intro for these games sucks. I’ve never seen something less creative. Not a huge fan of ESPN5 being responsible for the coverage. I mean they’re showing only 11 sports out 56 on the program. The last two games showed at least 20.

I love the 2015 and 2017 intros. They’re some of my all-time favorites actually. Even the 2005 Intro is better than the one this year.

Tickets for the majority of the 56 sports at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games will now be free for the public. The exception is in the sports of basketball, football and volleyball when the Philippine team is playing. People who have bought tickets earlier to the other 53 sports will not be reimbursed.

Upon Duterte’s orders, SEA Games tickets now free to the public

You have to feel sorry for the people who bought tickets early. They got screwed.

Isn't that just making people angrier? :mumble:

I don't think they sold a lot of tickets. So there aren't going to be a lot of angry people. But you have to feel for the fans who made an effort to buy tickets. They were told to consider the money they paid as a "contribution"

And the Philippines will win their first medal in men’s water polo since 2011. If they defeat Malaysia on the last day of competition, they’ll win the silver medal ahead of Singapore

These games are a disaster.

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
    • Idea (that I don't want to mess with right now, but someone else can steal the idea): Could feed the docs from LA28 + Paris 2024 through AI and see what it says.  (Would just take downloading them, perhaps merging them for ease of upload, and passing it through.)
    • If you have time would love to see a sport by sport overview of the changes/new sports
    • Slowly going through the documents.   Looks like canoe slalom qualifiers will be a bit different. More kayak cross quotas which will let nations to essentially qualify two kayakers.
    • How about we choose either Rome or Milano  I hate this timeline we have entered of multiple host cities / countries. The football World Cup became ludicrous, we don't need the Olympics to join them. At least not more than they already are.

    • I'm also reminded as I know Canadians are painfully aware that if figures hadn't been a part of the 1984 Olympics, then Brian Orser would have won gold.  Hamilton could have finished 4th in the free skate that year and still beat Orser who finished 7th in the figures
