Brandon Holt will make his US Open debut after winning in qualies. He celebrated with his mother Tracy Austin, former #1 and youngest US Open champion ever. And now will face Taylor Fritz, whose mother is Kathy May, former #10 in the WTA. Austin and May played once and now their kids will meet.

The first upset in the women's draw. Qualifier :UKR Daria Snigur takes out #7 seed :ROU Simona Halep 6-2 0-6 6-4.

 

On the opposite end was :BRA Beatriz Haddad Maia who got a double bagel 6-0 6-0 over :CRO Ana Konjuh.

Bia Haddad is looking super strong phlsically and mentally. The only problem is that her section is so Hard.

 

To be a top 10 she must to be in the semi finals but she has Andreescu and Garcia in the next 2 matches :cry:

...and the mega upset happened as Galan held on to win 6-0 6-1 3-6 7-5! :wacko: I can only wonder what @Makedonas will say about this one.

 

Better news for @hckošiceas Schmiedlova and Kuzmova won their R1 matches in straight sets (Kuzmova beating Sorribes Tormo is more impressive by far). Molcan lost to Monteiro.

    • My guess is Women’s football is where we will see some players refusing to go to the Olympics in protest at having to take a test. Feels like that’s one here they are some biological women who would do that. Maybe a few others    Could be the odd country where legal or political challenges cause issue for events. Particularly ones where local authorities have more power as urban ones where majority of sporting event are held more likely to be left wing and liberal.
