Men's Road Cycling UCI World Tour 2022 (La Vuelta Ciclista a España)

Recommended Posts

Simon Yates, 5th in the GC, didn't start today: positive COVID-19 test and he was getting sick.

Pavel Sivakov, 9th in the GC, didn't start today neither: positive COVID-19 test, no word on whether or not he's actually getting sick.

Three riders from Kern-Pharma didn't start today due to positive tests. Again, no word on whether or not they're actually sick.

Ugh.

And Alaphilippe gone too. This GT is really turning into one of the most anticlimactic ever :nopompom:

Another fall...I really hope he'll be alright. I think this Vuelta for him was entirely meant to help Evenepoel and/or get back in shape towards Wollongong, judging by his results, but this won't help at all.

Any news on injuries yet?

Today:

Spoiler

5eebe

Tomorrow:

Spoiler

vuelta-a-espana-2022-stage-15-profile-n2

Which means today most likely nothing will happen...nobody is going for an early attack with that long climb tomorrow. And with tomorrow's profile, I assume the organizers wanted to have 148km of nothing, followed by everything again happening in the last 2km?

Where the Vuelta has often been the best of the three GT's, this year's it is by far the most awful in terms of the course and stage profiles. Terrible.

At least we’re not in for three weeks of Extremadura, but on the sports side it hasn’t been anywhere exciting for me.

    • At the beginning, she was considering a helicopter transfer within that day as 3 companies offered her that option. But later, she did not give a clear answer but said that she will compete PGS. Some information still seem to be a bit unclear, but some information does not want to released to public. I am not so sure. But what actually happens, we have to wait for that certain day
    • Yes, they also wrote about It months ago on the olympics website: https://www.olympics.com/en/news/ester-ledecka-chooses-snowboard-over-alpine-downhill-milano-cortina-2026
    • Not really. Maybe you heard it wrong. She decided to give up downhill and will focus on snowboarding parallel Giant slalom. After that, she should participate in Super G and Team Combined.    Btw, maybe, but really maybe, she may take part in one downhill training which is a condition in order to participate in downhill race. Why am saying that is the fact that if the downhill will be postponed to another day due to weather conditions, she would go for the downhill race as well.
    • Actually it was announced some time ago she will do the Snowboarding PGS on Day 2 and then the Alpine Super-G on Day 6 (+ still in discussion process the start in the Alpine Combined Teams on Day 4)
