Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson beat top ranked Brazilians Ana Patricia and Duda in straight sets to move to the semis in Doha !!

Good for them but hardly surprising given how much Duda/AP struggled to teams levels below them in prior games.

Mel/Brandie through to the gold medal match at the Doha Elite 16, defeating Latvia 2-1! (21-17, 20-22, 15-12)

They were 10-15 down in set one, and 2-6 down in set three but still managed to turn it around!

Mel/Brandie lose the gold medal match 2-0 (21-18, 21-18) at the Doha Elite 16 to Brazil’s Barbora/Carol. Wasn’t able to watch it as the power went out a couple hours before:facepalm:(due to extremely windy conditions)

Heather Bansley/Sophie Bukovec through to the semifinals at the Recife Challenge! Sam Schachter/Dan Dearing bow out in the quarterfinals, getting demolished by a Cuban team that I thought they had a solid chance at defeating. Both finishes should be good enough to add useful points towards their Olympic Ranking.

For Dearing/Schachter it’s a 5th useable finish, while for Bansley/Bukovec it’s a 2nd.

Heather Bansley/Sophie Bukovec with a quarterfinal finish at the Saquarema Challenge. Very disappointing week for Sam Schachter/Dan Dearing, losing both of their pool play matches.

Bronze for Sophie Bukovec/Heather Bansley at the Guadalajara Challenge! Lost an extremely tight match to Swiss #3 Bobner/Verge Depre in the semifinals (they’re still a really good team, so this was far from a bad result) with the third set going to overtime, and eventually finishing 20-18 in favor of them. Rebounded in the bronze medal match however, defeating Ittlinger/Borger 2-0 and a dominant second set (21-14) at that.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
