Never mind, those are results from 2020, I'm blind

The Norwegian federation site linked to that and I hadn't noticed their mistake :p

There is no novelty here, however it's still fun to see Lebanese women grabbing generous 140.80 FIS points for nearly 30 minutes required for 5 km free.

I wonder, are Cedars the Lebanese Alpe Cermis? :p

Cedars must be a super easy track, considering some of the athletes who are participating there :p

But yeah, this thing with 140 points is one of the main reasons why it's good Olympic qualification isn't solely based on FIS Points List anymore :p

This applies to all FIS competitions, but I feel like it's most relevant in cross-country. FIS has just announced full implementation of the fluor wax ban starting next season.

About time, IBU has already had it for a while now (with countries being penalized as well for breaking this rule....yes, hello Brazil when IBU saw a bottle of fluor standing in your wax cabin )

I believe in the Toblach World Cup FIS was busy testing everyone's skis, specifically saying one would not be penalized yet if fluor was discovered, because they wanted to test their detection methods. Seems like it worked :d

Jess Diggins interviewed on eating disorders. I know that Norways pull athletes from competition once they develop symptoms.

https://www.fis-ski.com/en/cross-country/cross-country-news-multimedia/news/2022-23/fis-cross-country-committee-spring-meetings

Last season's distances confirmed as keepers, and the process to have them at the World Championships and Olympics as well has started. So hello to also the title races for the men's interval being the semi-joke 20k, but at least also hello to the women's 50k. It has good and bad sides: the bad obviously being the shortening of the men's interval and skiathlon, but the good side being the lengthening of the women's mass starts (which not a lot of sports would do).

Also:

The FIS Point System - that was approved in 2022 - will be efficient as of 1st of July 2023.

Any idea what they mean? I can't find anything about a specifically different system being approved last year, but also the Brazilian federation has mentioned this as something that will affect their way of qualifying for 2026.

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
    • Idea (that I don't want to mess with right now, but someone else can steal the idea): Could feed the docs from LA28 + Paris 2024 through AI and see what it says.  (Would just take downloading them, perhaps merging them for ease of upload, and passing it through.)
    • If you have time would love to see a sport by sport overview of the changes/new sports
    • Slowly going through the documents.   Looks like canoe slalom qualifiers will be a bit different. More kayak cross quotas which will let nations to essentially qualify two kayakers.
    • How about we choose either Rome or Milano  I hate this timeline we have entered of multiple host cities / countries. The football World Cup became ludicrous, we don't need the Olympics to join them. At least not more than they already are.

    • I'm also reminded as I know Canadians are painfully aware that if figures hadn't been a part of the 1984 Olympics, then Brian Orser would have won gold.  Hamilton could have finished 4th in the free skate that year and still beat Orser who finished 7th in the figures
