Swimming at the Aquatics FINA World Championships 2022

Recommended Posts

I don't feel the thrill for this worlds that I usually do. Maybe it is because of the absence of some top tier swimmers because of stuff like the CWG, but I just don't feel it after the eight win for another swimmer from :USA. It just doesn't help.

Besides Popovici, Milak, Marchand and maybe McIntosh there is little for me to remember. Ceccon had a nice WR and that was a fun change of pace, and the 100 Breaststroke W was a GREAT race, but there have been too many duds and swims where I just don't really know part of the field even in a final.

Yeah, it has been a downbeat champs.  Better next time when everyone is more focussed pre-Paris.

It's been a combination of Australia (and to a lesser extent Great Britain) focusing on the Commonwealth Games, Russia's ban and the general downward trend of China that has allowed the United States to dominate these championships.

Busy hour for Sarah Sjöstrom.  :SWE

17:05 - Wins a Final

17:20 - Wins a Semi

17:40 - Medal Ceremony

17:55 - Rescues child from collapsing building.

Rest of it was just sitting round watching TV, though.

    • Assuming Venezuela loses and gives up 4+ runs, Canada just needs PR to lose and give up 9 or more runs in a 9 inning or less game. I hadn't realized one of their games went to 10 innings before. I think it's possible, but we'll have to wait and see.
