I noticed last week there were two :IRL paddlers in one of the men’s finals: that can’t gave happened very often either.  [ @hckošiceproduces long list going back to 1922]

You Right, according to my brief records it never happen before.

But speaking about :IRL canoeing Slalom, do not forget the country has already European Champion in M K1 (Iain Wiley 1996, a true legend, who won also 4 WC races and had a couple of other podiums including at Junior major Tournament) and more recently a Silver medal in M C1 Team of all (2020 https://123result.blob.core.windows.net/canoe/CS_2020/201201/1374/MC1x3_TFI_20@Results.pdf)

Every single time I watch this, I say myself that if ICF competent people alongside of the IOC erudite people selected this "event" to the Olympics it must have something in it I sill could not find for everything on earth and it just must be... will certainly be better when that special thing will occur...but every single time I watch this I know that nothing will happen and miraculously save or improve this stupidity...

In other words, for you guys who never saw it, Extreme Kayak will be the most stupid, unfair and absurd discipline of the whole Paris 2024 program. Mark my words, you will either shake your head or cry while watching it in 2 years time..., totally unjustified inclusion to the Olympic program..

complete crap

What is extreme kayak? Several kayaks doing the course at the same time?

previously known as "canoe slalom cross" was suddenly changed to the name "extreme kayak", sounds more urban...

Short track, everyone has small dumb boat, everyone has to make a so-called "eskimo" deliberately overturn the boat at some place ! during the run, the most aggresive one (who has no limits to kill his opponents in the water ) will win... gladiator-like supposed entertainment show shit on stupidly designed kayaks

    • How wonderful!   I met the national rowing (and beach rowing) coach of EST/LTU/LAT on the way to ice hockey one day, who's Canadian by the way. I also flew home on the same flight as JC Schoonmaker's mom and friends, so we chatted for a bit.
    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
    • Uber cost me $224 CAD to get back to the hotel from the OC. It basically prevented me from buying tickets to a speed skating session
    • Romania's national team coach, Mircea Lucescu, has died half an hour ago He was in hospital since March 30th, just before the friendly match against Slovakia. Unbelievable how the life can have such turns...in March 26th he was in Istanbul playing the WC qualifying play-off vs Turkiye and now he died.    Thank you very much for every moments you bring us in your huge career (he's on 3rd place in a most trophies won in career, after Ferguson and Guardiola) and may your soul rest in peace, Mr. Lucescu.
