They will. Why wouldn't they?

Personally I think it is too late. Our athletes are really bad anyway and without preparation it will be a joke.

Last place with min 50kg less than otherd

No, he will not finish last. Being our best lifter he could get a half-decent result.

The main point is that we will have another sport in Rio, what is good, especially for a sport in which our Olympic medal winning performances in 2000 and 2004 were followed by two Olympics with zero Croatian weightlifters. Who knows, maybe that in combination with hosting European Championships next year could bring a brighter future in this sport.

Well, I strongly disagree with everyone who states that Olympics are "too cool" for regular athletes. Difference between Olympics and World championships is that qualifying for the Olympics is harder (especially in sport like weightlifting where World championships are open to everyone), and yet those who make the Olympics get criticized. They earned this spot (it wasn't a random pick) and they deserve to send one athlete. Just like Starčević got his reallocated quota.

Amar Musić will be going in -85kg.

Our men's basketball team lost a friendly game against Argentina 78:97 in Cordoba.

Today 65 members of Croatian delegation arrived in Rio. Among athletes, coaches and other members of our delegation are our handball and water polo teams, and athletes in rowing, sailing, shooting, gymnastics, cycling, Ana Konjuh in tennis, Andrej Gacina in table tennis, Barbara Matic in judo, Mario Tododorvic in swimming.

I'm very happy that we have athlete in weightlifting in Rio.

Before qualification period I was hoping that we might qualify in badminton and canoeing, but it didn't happen.

Me too. If I'm not mistaken there are still nine of the current Olympic sports in which we have yet to qualify since independence (Archery, Badminton, Field Hockey, Football, Golf, Modern Pentathlon, Rugby sevens, Synchronized Swimming and Triathlon). Qualification in (men's) Football can always happen, but is pretty tough, since only a few Europeans qualify and our under-21 team has never been quite successful. I am not too enthusiastic about the Olympic football tournament anyway. In badminton we had some good female junior players. Maybe Sutara or someone else will progress to be good enough in the future. In Archery and Synchronized swimming we were not that far away from qualification this time.

I guess qualification in Weightlifting is also kind of new, since I think we have had no one else than naturalized Pesalov qualified before.

Does anyone know when the draws in Boxing, Judo, Taekwondo, Wrestling, Tennis and Table Tennis will be made?

    • Update after Matchdays 8 and 9.   Group A:  is almost a lock with 21p, and 7 games 7 wins. Almost impossible for them to not qualify. The battle is in the second place between  (16p) and  (13p).  with 8p is almost out.  and  eliminated.   Group B:  won both of the 2 games so is almost secured with 19p.  is second with 14p, with  (1 more game played) and  with 11p.  is eliminated and  practically too (6p)   Group C:  went 2 out of 2 so they are still first with 16p and one game less than the rest. The battle for second place will be between  14p,  11p and  9p.  eliminated and  (with one game less and 4p) probably too.   Group D: Only 3 for 2 places.  first with 19p has the advantage, but coming close is  with 16p. They played each other in the Matchday 11 of 12. Coming in third behind is  with 11p. ,  and  eliminated.   Group E: Both  and  won both matches so its still the same, Poland first with 24p and Italy second with 21p, which is the best runner-up and also qualifying directly, so is very likely that both teams end up qualifying no matter who finish first and second. , ,  and  eliminated.   Group F: A tie between  18p and  18p. Germany has the goal advantage (+21 to +20), and has to play the three weaker teams, so its more likely to qualify. Coming behind are  with 10p and  with 9p, which are practically eliminated with  and   Group G:  takes the advantage with 12p and one game less.  and  both have 7p, and coming behind are  5p (but one game less) and  with 5p.   Group H:  with the win against  moved to first place with 13p (and one game less), and Turkey stays in second with 11p.  is coming in third with 8p, while  is eliminated and  have 3p and one game less.   Group I: A triple tie between ,  and  with 10p. Belgium have the advantage because they have the best head to head points and one game less. Austria is second in the H2H difference and Denmark is third but with also one game less.  have 6p and  is eliminated.   The next 3 and last matchdays will define the 10 qualified teams and the 8 that will go to the playoffs. Matchdays will be 24-26 September, 28Sep-1Oct and 5-6 October, 2026.
