Men's singles-                                                    Marin Ćilić-rank-3

Borna Čorić-rank-28

Women's singles-

Petra Martić-rank-35

Dona Vekić-rank-55

Ana Konjuh-rank-87(because of injury-her top was 20 rank)

Jana Fett-rank-109

Men's doubles-

Mate Pavić-rank-3

Ivan Dodig-rank-10

Nikola Mektić-rank-31

Mixed doubles-

I think we could easy have 10 players in tokyo if something change in our federation..I'm very positive about it because everybode are young players and very talanted

I guess for Qualification to Olympics or WCH you will need to be among top 30 in field disciplines, among top 48 in sprint etc, of course max 3 athletes per nation. It was something similar in London last year

Which competitions will be qualyifng for tokyo this year?

Most important ones for us are sailing and shooting world championships

plus us all the sports where you collect points for rankings as judo, taekwando and karate

i don think there is anyone safe, to be in the top 4 of olympic categories it is going to be very tough. Currently both are not in the top 4, actually far away from that.

I think the kvesic  brothers are currently around ranking 20 when you add both categories together, same for hassani when you add two categories in female.

If we qualify one athlete in karate I would be already very happy.

but still long way to go, I think the ranking will change as so far some people were focusing on championship more than ranking.

Karate qualification period starts in July 2018

otherwise this year

  • road cycling and box freestyle qualification period starts in October and November. Although currently in road cycling does not look very good for us, probably only one quota. in Bmx freestyle will be very tough, as only 8 places and clear preference for nations with many competitors.
  • U21 Football team, qualification and European championship
  • basketball: qualification tournaments both men and women, probably both out
  • gymnastics: World Cup series starts in November 2018, world championship 2018 not relevant for us as we don't have a chance to qualify a team
  • judo qualification period starts in may
  • Sailing: world championship in August
  • Shooting : WCH in September
  • Taekwaondo: started already in 2016, the main events this year are:European President Cup and European Championship in April/May, and then the GrandPrix Series starting in June and Grand Slam in December. Those are the events where you can collect the most points for the ranking. Looking at the current olympic ranking we have one female (Kristina Tomic) in Top 5. Few others just below or very close to the top 5: Nikita Glasnovic, Matea Jelic  Lovre Brecic and Toni Kanaet. Iva Rados and Vedran Golec still with some chances, maybe Bruna Vuletic.
  • Triathlon starts in May, but I don't think we have a chance

I did not take into account sports where we don't have a chance and where the qualification system is not published yet.

  • Latest Posts around Totallympics

    • Selina Grotian is the 6th youngest World Cup winner among women (20yo 8 months).   Elin Kristiansen remains the youngest at 19yo 6 months (Anterselva 1988 sprint). Magdalena Neuner is the only other athlete to win before turning 20yo (19yo 11 months). Uschi Disl (20yo 1 month), Svetlana Davidova (20yo 3 months) & Martina Glagow (20yo 4 months) were also younger.
    • Today maybe there was poor wax servic, but Auchentaller loses in every race at the end, when younger competitors: Grotian, Richard, etc. are already running much faster. Vittozzi is 29 years old but unfortunately she got injured in November - if she recovers, she will still have a big chance for medals. Unfortunately, Wierer can only be a complement to relay teams.
    • Could be the waxing on the last lap fresh snow. Auchentaller, Wierer & Trabucci all fell off on the last lap and basically had the slowest skiing time there? Overall though you have a problem, days of prime Wierer & Vittozzi won't be repeated soon but then I hear the same issues in alpine skiing where there is a huge gap behind Brignone & Bassino (the latter being 28 years old already). And someone claimed Colturi would have plateau'd if she stayed with the Italian federation as well.
    • Could not watch it, despite that I'm definitely not upset :)
    • I am rooting for Team Canada in Ice hockey and Team Austria in Ski jumping
    • Finally at least one condition suitable for the dog shit we wax
    • Slovakia returns to the podium for the first time since Oslo in March 2022. To find a podium in the mass start we even have to go back to Rupholding 2019, before the covid era
    • The truth is that the entire Italian biathlon depends on one Vittozzi, who is not sure if she will return this season and her form is also questionable, because the rest of the Italian team is running poorly. Wierer is old and will never win again - she is running weaker and weaker and what is worse: she is shooting poorly. The rest of our team is running too weakly to count on any successes in the future. I don`t believe that Auchentaller or Comola will suddenly make a big progress in the run track, e.g. to the top 10, since the young French women are already much faster than them.
    • Auchentaller runs poorly, and her last rounds are awful - generally all Italian women have a problem with fitness and this is probably the problem of poor preparation before the season. If you don't run in the top 10, you can forget about successes apart from one individual race. Wierer and Vittozzi always ran in the top 10 during their prime. I don't see such potential in Auchentaller. Generally, both in biathlon and cross-country skiing Italian teams aren`t able to train a few good runners for many years and this is probably a systemic problem - look at France, for example: how many good runners have they been able to train in biathlon in recent years...
