Men's Football UEFA European Championship 2020

Don't see why people here think these teams would want to fix a result? Even with 4 points they are not certain to qualify + the 3rd here could play France/Germany so what does it matter? Both teams are probably happy to just make the round of 16.

In case of a draw they already have superior goal difference to :SUI who finished 3rd in Group A so that's one down. And if Belgium beats Finland later tonight no team from Group B will finish third there on 4 points so that's two down and guaranteed qualification.

Yes, I know but that game is played later. It's unlikely that Finland will get that result but they can't just assume that, much less in a sport like this where you're always one red card or one bad defense away from losing to minnow.

Well, that needs to be a whole lot better in the next match. Good thing this was against 'only' North-Macedonia, otherwise it'd be done.

Very poor game from Ukraine. Now they have to cheer for Belgium and Russia (sic!) later tonight and then probably for Spain to beat Slovakia by 2 goals and Poland not beating Sweden to qualify.

If Belgium beats Finland that qualifies Switzerland 100%. Also, Finland would qualify 100% if they at least get a draw vs Belgium (due to superior goal difference over Switzerland).

I wonder if Belgium fields a B-team vs Finland? Only T. Hazard is on a yellow card and I read he won't play anyway due to a minor knee injury.

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
