The Georgians had a bit of a nightmare... actually, pretty much the entire last flight other than Japan had nightmares. Lifts were being missed entirely, people were falling on spins, it was a fiasco lol

Laurin/Ethier don't really have the scoring potential to compete with most of them typically... but they skated clean, and everyone else were throwing points away by the dozen :yikes:

Stephen Gogolev is sitting in second after the short program at Skate Finland with 89.35 points! It’s been a while since we have had a singles skater in medal position at a Grand Prix. Madeline Schizas is also in third place with a seasons best 65.16 points.

Piper and Paul sit in second after the rhythm dance after piper downgraded the twizzles just half a point back of first and Trent and Lia sit in a virtual tie for first place in the pairs shirt program  with 70.13 point only .27 points back of first.

I think it's gonna be tough to unseat Gogolev for the Olympic spot. Putting up scores, and at 20 is the youngest of the contenders, and would benefit most long term.

Sadovsky skated well, but was underrotating his jumps... and at 26, he's no longer someone we can think of as a developing skating, it's put up or shut up time.

With Gogolev putting up scores in the short around 90, I'm not sure there is much need for Messing. If we can get the same scores semi-consistently from the up and comer, we might as well go with the up and comer

  • 2 weeks later...

Gilles/Poirier fourth in the Grand Prix final. The crowd was stunned and the ISU has been called out for the results.

Not sure what Skate Canada did but it looks awfully like a second straight Olympics without a medal for Canada.

Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
