Brutal Putinesque purge of the Commentary team.

The International Skating Union has replaced its World Championships commentators after they made offensive remarks about Canadian former world champion Meagan Duhamel.

British commentator Simon Reed called the 36-year-old the "bitch from Canada" at the end of Wednesday's pairs event in Montpellier, France, apparently thinking his microphone was turned off.

Funny thing is that he was replaced by the commentator who is known to be a Russophile... :p I immediately switched to the Eurosport Player upon hearing his voice.

EDIT: Also, Duhamel is far from an innocent bystander in all of this. But I guess it's easier to get away with it on Twitter (surprise, surprise).

Yea Duhamel has a nact for not minding her own business and victimizing herself, but what the announcer said was plain wrong.

Well, their Beijing pair got suspended over a lip gloss. :p

Yes, I know, but what happened with importing Russian or American skaters? I mean even Poland imports some Russians to figure skating these days. Who da hell imports Poles? :p

It's crazy what's going on right now in the women's free skate.

An amazing example of what contests can do to people and these girls know that this might be the only chance for a world title, because figure skating will do everything to get Russia back on board as soon as the war is over.

Everybody is chasing a life time achievement and everybody is way more nervous than usual.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)
