Central American and Caribbean Games 2023

Howell :ARU finished with a bronze medal in women’s BMX. The races, if they can honestly can called that, we’re mostly just an organized procession after the start.

Pajon :COL in a class of her own, of course. Howell was the only rider really able to keep pace with the Colombian pair, so maybe a glimmer of hope for a good result at the Pan Ams.

Aular :VEN snatched the gold medal in the men’s road race with a solo attack on the final lap. He finished just ahead of the group. Unfortunately, the stream didn’t show the last few kilometers, so hard to know what transpired.

:BER:BIZ do well in the group sprint, but they left it too late :(

I still can't believe nothing was broadcast in rhythmic gymnastics.

I never saw any broadcasts of artistic gymnastics past the first subdivision of all-around qualification.

Here’s a fun factoid, all three medalists in women’s golf have the first name “Maria.”

:VIN picked up another medal in netball. Surely this has to be their best performance at the CAC Games?

Oh, he’s getting sacked for sure.

That was an achievable gold.

Someone posted a video where someone shows a video of incident into r/fencing. It looks like Mexico actually got point and the coach and another team member ran onto the piste celebrating before the point was awarded. The coach took off his shirt and threw it during celebrations, and was then blackcarded.

Guatemala :GUA got away with one gold in Badminton, after 5 finals. This new generation is doing great, hopefully the team will mature into more in a couple years.

Third best performance of Guatemalan athletes at the Games, broke the record of most silver medals which was 25 set in 1950.

With all the difficulties and low moral because of the suspension.  Will see if with what happened here the COG will resolve the current situation so Guatemala can be present at Paris 2024.

See you in Santo Domingo :DOM 2026 for the Centennial of the Games!

    • Regarding the swimming they have added the 800m for men and the 1500m for women so cutting numbers would be odd.
    • That quota I’ve been told by an athlete aiming to qualify who I know online.
    • Has the quota for Canada been offically confirmed anyway, or is that just a rumour? I can't find anything on google about it (nor the suggested quota for England's athletes someone posted earlier).   12 per gender would make sense (it's roughly what Canada sent to Birmingham). 12 overall seems dumb.
    • Some sports have qualification systems   3x3 basketball (wheelchair) Para-cycling Powerlifting Weightlifting
    • In the past few games, Canada (and other nations) was given an overall athlete quota which they then divided it through the various sports.
    • Whose decision was this, Team Canada's or the Organising committes?
