Heading for the home stretch and we still have medal opportunities. Men's ski halfpipe and women's mass start will be the events to watch. The 2-woman bobsled is currently in fourth and a medal is possible, but it will likely take a mistake in the top three to secure it. Additionally, the 4-men bobsled begins today which will be our final hope for a medal on the final day.

As much as I would love to see our alpine team luck its way into a medal, the bracket draw is very unfavourable and we already didn't have much of a chance.

No golds in freestyle skiing for the first time since 2002. There were four events then, thirteen now. Embarrassing.

It's sad, but not entirely surprising after Kingsbury was robbed.  He earned gold, just wasn't awarded it.

Kripps into 3rd after 2 runs, but it'll be very hard to move up.

I know this sounds like complaining, but watching bobsled is frustrating because it doesn't really matter if anyone runs better than the Germans, their equipment will always get them down faster.  I have a friend who was a luger and he said you could go down completely clean and the Germans could bounce all over the place but it didn't matter because he was using sleds 4 years behind theirs.

I’m a bit worried that the German in 4th is going to close in on Kripps. I hate how the Germans always role out their new equipment during the Olympics.

    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
    • Ok, but there we are talking about a person who has parents from different countries. Colturi has nothing to do with Albania.
    • There are few people here from Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Finland.
    • The worst editions in XXI century for us were Vancouver: 5 medals (only 1 gold for Razzoli's on the penultimate day) and Sochi: 8 medals (but no gold). Turin was already a prelude to this bad period, although the number of gold medals was ok. Overall we won fewer medals at home than in 2002 and this was probably the only case in the 21st century when the host country won fewer medals at home than 4 years earlier, either in summer or winter. In general the years 2008-2016 were very bad in our sport, both in summer and winter. Only 2018 in Korea was a slight rebuild + 2 fantastic summer editions in Tokyo and Paris. in Beijing 2022 we won a lot of medals - 17 but only 2 gold (If it weren't for Gogga's injury, I think it would have been 4 gold).
    • Totallympics had  users at one point, but I haven't seen any hanging around in a while.
    • In terms of total medals, yes. In terms of golds, I’d be fine with anywhere from 6-8.   @intoronto you don’t think we’ll do better or at least the same? Bit surprising.
    • Tadeucci was very good and took bronze
    • On the Olympics I don't like to count golds to analyse the performance, I think the best data are the top8 and medals. In both fields I expect a big improvement (obviously not on the 'pure' number, but on the percentage of medal or top8 events)
    • December is probably going to be focused on either Italy/Austria or Norway, but the plans are still being made as we speak. Renting a car, driving from the Netherlands down to Italy, finding accomodations and help with preparing the skis and all that...trying to make it as an independent 'solo' athlete is...hard     I can't go and help out, because we got the keys to our house (finally) and there's lots of work to be done there, so it's all happening at the same time and the mind is getting crazy (for both of us)
