Will he be able to fit four more in by Paris you think?

Absolutely not. Road to Paris qualification ends in two weeks, and he’s only entered in one meet (on June 21) in addition to Olympic Trials (at least that I know of)

He is 'only' .37 away from the qualification standard (based on his first race). Hopefully he can hit the standard at that event or nationals.

I did calculations and it appears almost impossible for Thorne to be in the top 40 at the end of rankings :(

Unless he has another race before nationals and gets a PB

Oh I’m not saying that he won’t hit the standard :d

49.07 in his first race back from injury is really impressive.

Just that he’s running out of time to get four meets in/the entry standard.

My mistake, didn't realize his PB in Edmonton wasn't in the Road to Paris yet. That will get him 1222 points, which would remove 1161 (his lowest score). This will increase his score by 12 points overall too 1206. Putting him in a tie for 43 (not including this past week's results for other athletes). So with a PB at nationals it would overtake the 40th place athlete. Its really close for him!

15:17.48 for Gabriela Debues-Stafford at the Harry Jerome!

Solid time, but unfortunately will need to hit the 14:52 entry standard at Olympic Trials.

@intoronto what will Tunks and Weir need in women’s discus throw/hammer throw, in order to get top 32?

Did the calculations myself. For Weir, 70m (and 2nd) is probably the bare minimum, 71m (28th on the road to Paris) should be more than enough.

1199 for Tunks, if she can go 61.50m, and grab first won’t be enough. 63.00m will give her 1227 points, and will slot her into 30th.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
