All I have heard is that they will be cheap. The overall budget for the 4 ceremonies is one 10th of what London spent on their 4 ceremonies. It looks as though the Paralympic ceremonies will suffer the biggest hit. The organisors of the ceremony have said that "high-tech" was being eliminated from the ceremonies. He listed drones, complex aerial equipment and disappearing stages as items that Rio would do without. The emphasis will be on the basics".

Content wise, the production team have said that the carnival will be included. The team have said it will be a 'vision of what I hope it [Brazil] will become'. I guess we will have to wait and see....

ok thx they are experimented in carnivals it's cool
but i hope some modern surprises  even with few money they can do it
and august in brazil it's the winter the rain+cold  which can disturb the scene.... :mumble:

Rio X-Park Whitewater Stadium

  714f2ff1c5644e9eb7f5828b1bb9e572.jpg

Sports: Canoeing Slalom

Zone DEODORO

Location: Deodoro Rio Olympic X-Park

The Whitewater Stadium is located within the X-Park section of Deodoro Olympic Park and will host the canoe slalom events. A permanent 250m long course with temporary support facilities and seating for 8,000. will leave a legacy for the sport in Brazil.

Though the Rio course doesn’t boast the same gradient or steep drops as recent Olympic venues, the whitewater is nonstop from start to finish. Utilizing the same adjustable Rapidbloc system as the Lee Valley White Water Centre in London, the designers have configured the obstacles to create consistent, hole-laden whitewater. The main flow is quite powerful and punishing as it bounces off the blocks creating eddies. As a result, if a athlete mistime one stroke, it becomes extremely difficult to get the boat back on top of the water without exerting enormous amounts of energy.
