What's the difference of 6 seconds in 10000m race. Having 31:45 as a selection standard for example might be understandable. But 32:09 instead of 32:15... In men's 100m for example the difference is just .02 seconds Here's the selection criteria This stupid rule almost also prevents the current record holder in men's hammer throw (a 22 years old who has break 4 times the national record since last year) to be formally selected to compete. He planned to make his first competition on May 15th and now he will make his first competition at the beginning of June (Diamond League in Rome), from there on he has 2 more months until Rio to get in top shape. Overally Germany is having a lot of bad luck this year in athletics, Harting, Schwanitz and Storl are all injured. Franz and Schrader are out of Rio.
