Not good start of the home world championship season...especially the second period was pretty embarassing, after a decent and let say satisfying opening frame we got clearly outshooted and outskated in that 2nd period, the guys were too much slow and annoyingly lazy, thankfully we recovered a bit in the third period, but stupid fouls (especially the Gernát´s crosschecking) costed us a better result...Anyway this is still the start of the long road until the WCh and the coaching staff has to test as many players as possible to find the best possible team for May, some new faces like Puliš or Lántoši showed today some interesting things.

The match Poland - Denmark has been interrupted after 45 minutes of play, it was 1 hour ago because of Ice issues in Gdansk...they still for some reasons don´t know how to fix that...not sure if I understood correctly, but it looks like the game will be finished tomorrow, that would means probably that also the next game :AUT vs :NOR will be played tomorrow...

This tournament started very bad...it looks like one team do not want to play (Poland experiencing some internal problems with boycotting players), one team have nothing to play with (Austria lost equipment dring the ravel - their match vs Norway was already postponed to this evening - previously was scheduled as the opening match) and the third has not where to play (Denmark because of ice issue ):p

That's very sad :( I was watching first period (couldn't watch whole match) and puck sometimes was moving in strange direction but I didn't expect that we can't prepare ice correctly to play whole 60 minutes. Not so long time ago we host WCh regularly (of course not elite, but still...). Rest of the match will be played tomorrow. Unfortunately I can't find any information about time for rest of the matches. Maybe tournament will be postponed and finish at Monday (strange thing, but it's holiday in Poland this year)? It's all chaos. It's even sadder if you think that this is tournament in the occasion of 100th anniversary of the restoration of Poland's sovereignty.

And about Polish hockey players. I don't want go into details, because it's more complicated. In short it looks like that: players want money for past matches, federation don't want to pay the whole amount - they claim that promise of payments was whim of ex-presidents, not idea of federation itself :dunno:

    • no idea. I just repeated what I read  but I won't be surprised if they make a mistake like this. the officials here are usually terrible in reading the rules. if I remember correctly they sent an Ice hockey team to the Games back in 2017 but most of the players were ineligible to play per IIHF rules and they played some friendlies instead    btw there is a federation, but not an ISU member. Ice Skating (which has a very very limited activity here) was a part of Skating (roller sports) federation but now moved to Skiing federation which officially changed its name to Skiing and Winter Sports Federation.
