Btw, Breezy Johnson is seemingly also nursing some injury. She missed both Zauchensee & Cortina and Shiffrin posted a cryptic message on IG whether she will make it on time too. It looks like another completely random DH gold medallist coming up unless Corinne Suter somehow picks up some heat?

Breezy Johnson was in Cortina but crashed in the 2nd training Friday

on that slope, if they set the course pretty straight, without any tricky turn, the gold medal imho is already at Kira Weidle's neck...

if they set it up like bastards, well, that might get really a mess...

A bit disappointing at the end must admit, considering the 1st round, but yeah, another podium in GS, so still fantastic result.

The most important was for Petra to feel that she is able to compete against the best also in Giant Slalom.  She spend the whole last week to train GS with the only goal to get that confidence in GS. Now she confirmed to our TV that she will return to training Slalom in another Italian resort and then her whole team will (hopefully healthy) fly to Beijing the January 31st.

hard to even explain the pressure the girl have to handle from the whole country. I really hope she will achieve what she want and will return from Beijing happy and satisfied :fingers:  If you tune on the TV in Slovakia, you can be sure you will see her, in advertisements, several TV shots, news, just everywhere the whole day...

Just the fact that her races have more TV viewers than hockey games already speak by itself about her popularity in the country

Yeah, we are always bad in Schladming, but this was something else.

Should be the definite proof that Zubčić is not a medal material this season. Bet he regrets putting more focus on slalom.

Well, Rodes 3 seconds off the pace (probably doesn't care anymore) and Vidovic lasted like 10 gates. It seems like :CRO is crawling towards the Olympics :p

Add Kolega to that list too. Like I said, we are always awful in Schladming, especially when it is this icy. Probably the technicians are not fully understanding it either.

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
