I think the marathon / 50k race walk final rankings have been published because the Hungarian Olympic Committee just confirmed two quotas for us, but I can't find the rankings anywhere online.
It looks like we officially have an Olympic medal chance in women's heptathlon, Xénia Krizsán had a new PB today in Götzis, 6651. It's the current WL and with a similar or better result she should be able to compete for the medal in Tokyo.
Women's 100m hurdles
Luca Kozák 12.81

Fajdek couldn't throw over 75, he needs to improve a lot for the Games. And Pars is nowhere near where he needs to be to qualify.
In case anyone cares, the organizers of the Gyulai Memorial are announcing the most well-known participants of this year's event one-by-one on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/gyulaimemorial/
ExpandThis is very interesting. Any source on that? Internet article or sth?
Here's an article about the Chinese loan in English: https://www.direkt36.hu/en/kinai-hitelbol-keszul-a-magyar-felsooktatas-oriasberuhazasa-a-kormany-mar-oda-is-igerte-egy-kinai-cegnek/
It looks like Budapest is about to lose the Athletics World Championships. There is a feud between the governing party and the mayor of Budapest, who's in the opposition. The governing party has crossed the line with various projects in the city, most notably with a huge project for a Chinese university over a vision of a more Western "district for students". The mayor promised that if the conservatives continue to back the Chinese university over his project, he will write a letter to IAAF to reject the hosting right of the 2023 WCh. I think there's a good chance that it will happen, for the governing party the project of the Chinese university is way more important than the Athletics WCh, as there's a ton of Chinese money in it, they are pretty much selling the country to China.
ExpandBouwmeester and his mate apparently had a van with them in which police found 4000 (!) XTC pills and 15kg of marijuana
Lifelong imprisonment is apparently an option. @Vektor How would morons like this usually be punished in Hungary, we're all assuming they're going behind bars for a very long time..
Probably not for that long. I mean, Péter Farkas (Wrestling Olympic champion in 1992) "only" got 5 and a half years in 2008 for having the biggest marijuana plantation in Hungary... after which he became a fugitive, but that's a different story.
ExpandSo it's simple now.... Hungary just need to beat 3:08.83 mins and they stay in the league.
That's not going to happen.
It saddens me to see how much Márton is struggling lately. I hope she will get better for the next season because we don't have many medal chances in Athletics, and she obviously needs 19m throws instead of these 17m ones if she wants another Olympic medal.
Will we get some kind of a live stream for this event? Eurosport Player only has the Super League.
Edited by VektorExpandGender non-discrimination bills. A female (even self-claimed) has a right that should be entitled to any person. Essentially no one can be discriminated against based on gender.
Christ, this is so, so wrong. I fully support the trans community, but gender politics should stay out of sports. I guess it would make things clear for everyone if the IOC would rename the events and have them as "High testosterone" (formerly "Men's") and "Low testosterone" (formerly "Women's") events. That way people wouldn't be able to claim that IAAF is trying to force athletes into the wrong gender category.

Many of our strongest athletes are skipping this, we pretty much sent the "B team" with a few exceptions.
