Their biggest issue is in fact that Kunlun Red Star is Although a Chinese club but for well-known reasons around this global shit we are living in last 2 years, Kunlun does not play in China or currently even does not reside in China at all, but in Moscow, Russia, where it plays also their home games, and that is the biggest legal juridical problem. Players need to play in a country that they want to represent for at least 2 years according the softest possible IIHF rules, but some recent acquisitions simply have no way to meet this condition, even though they have been in the club for 3 years they did not step a foot in China for 2 years now
This is the problem around guys like Werek, Bartley, Smith, Osipov, Lazushin and Pu. So now IIHF must agree and make the rule even more softer to allow these guys to play for China in Beijing, which the host team definitely want to use them as their starting 1st liners
