  1. Kajsa Kling apparently had to temporarily interrupt her career due to serious health problems, some sources report about strong depressions
  2. From tomorrow will start the first seasons international break, in other words we will have the possibilities to follow the first pre-olympic tests. Basically all participants will show up this weekend. From tomorrow will start the new season of the popular and prestigious Euro-Hockey Tour Traditionally the first stage is the Karjala Cup in Finland (followed in December by the One Channel Cup (Former Izvestia Trophy) in Russia, then the Czech Hockey Games and the Swedes Hockey Games this time played in April before the world championships because of the Olympic games played in it´s traditional February term) This time the Karjala Cup will be contested unusually by 6 teams, Since it´s the Olympic season and the NHL not allowing their players to start in PyeongChang the Team Canada asked for participation in this tournament to test their possible Olympic team. The organizers invited for this edition Switzerland as well. The format of the round-robin is a bit strange tough, each team will play only 3 games against 3 different opponents, the team with highest amount of points after 3 games will win the tourney. For the cumulative standing of the Euro Hockey Tour only the matches and points from the matches between and will be counted The tournament will start tomorrow by matches between Sweden and Czech Republic in Orebro and Switzerland - Canada in Biel, All other next matches will be played in Finland. To notice that also the next December´s stage the One Channel Cup in Russia will be played by almost same 6 teams too, only Switzerland will be replaced by South Korea. EURO-HOCKEY TOUR 2017/18 Stage 1 - Karjala Cup (in Helsinki, Finland) Wednesday November 8th, 2017 - Schedule 18:00 (GMT +1) Sweden vs Czech Republic * Played in Orebro (Sweden) 20:15 (GMT +1) Switzerland vs Canada * Played in Biel (SUI) The other important international tournaments will start later this week the Deutschland Cup with Germany, Slovakia, USA and the "B" team of Russia from Friday to Sunday. This weekend are also scheduled the first 3 Challenger Tournaments. In France from Thursday to Saturday with Belarus, France, Latvia and Slovenia. In Austria from Thursday to Saturday as well Austria, Denmark, Norway and South Korea participating and finally in Budapest, Hungary the 3rd Challenger from Friday to Sunday with Hungary, Italy, Japan and Poland playing.

  5. Former Under 21 Slovak National Team player and former Stoke City center back of Brazilian origin Dionatan Teixeira has passed away at age 25 yesterday in Brazil after suffering heart attack RIP Dionatan he was part of our great previous U21 team, his biggest dream was to qualify for Rio 2016 he started his career at 16 in Košice. Long times he was the youngest player who played a match in our championship. more info about him https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dionatan_Teixeira
  6. Typical NHL business, showing at full face that hockey is for them only a business... however here the trade in short 3 way trade Colorado - Nashville - Ottawa Ottawa: Matt Duchene (from Colorado). Colorado: Andrew Hammond, Shane Bowers, 1. round draft 2018 pick (Top 10 protected) and 3. round draft 2019 (from Ottawa) + Vladislav Kamenev and Samuel Girard (from Nashville). Nashville: Kyle Turris (from Ottawa).
  7. and it was a three way trade between Colorado, Ottawa and Nashville, something we not see so often these times
  8. yes, that´s why I wrote the word - relatively I was pointing just the fact that after the big NO from the NHL, I´ve heard that Canada was thinking to send a team with basically KHL players, but ofc they have the capacities to build easily another strong team even without using players from the both mentioned leagues
  9. After the last couple of years and all problems inside our federation, the terrible boycott of the National team from all our top players and idiotic and childish fights for the top places in the federation resulted this year in a team composed of some very low level and young players at this years world championships, the team finished 14th (our worst ever result) winning only one match against Italy and only after Overtime (and yet they played us the Slovenian anthem, so we finished for the first time the disastrous championship without listening at least once our national anthem ) it´s definitely not a surprising fact to see us so down in the odds, but I still think that is not so black, the things started to work slowly this summer, the changes (very needed) happened, we have new coach, new National team officials, new worldly well known faces starting a common work and project, new visions and what is the most important - the end of the boycott (unfortunately this time our NHL players will not be allowed to play not because of their own decision but because of their league leader is a total asshole ) but with our complete forces I think we would be surely at least at the same level of GER or SUI
  10. This should made some relatively important problems also for Canada. In fact after the NHL decision, they envisaged to send a team composed mainly from KHL players so the situation will not be so good for them as well if this disastrous scenario has to happen...but you know, the general depth of Canada is still impressively higher than in any other country, so you still must consider Canada as one of the favorites every time with every kind team they attend here the Team Canada roster for the upcoming Euro Hockey Tour Karjala Cup tournament, very likely this will be the base of the Canadian Olympic roster for PC 2018 https://sport.aktuality.sk/c/302573/v-nominacii-kanady-na-karjala-cup-aj-obranca-despres-zo-slovana/ For USA it looks better since they are not so strongly KHL oriented, the roster for the Deutschland Cup (Also practically the base of the Olympic team 2018) https://sport.aktuality.sk/c/303242/americania-na-nemecky-pohar-aj-s-giontom-ci-malonom/ In overall it´s like phelps said, the thing would benefit a lot the Swedes. But especially Switzerland and Germany would be the winners from this situation because of their strong national championships tradition.. For us this would be the disaster, we will be forced to send a similar team from the last world championships composed of players from SVK and CZE leagues, and we all know how the tournament ended, we avoided the relegation just by one single goal However, I hope this will not happen and the KHL players will be allowed to represent their countries at the Olympics.
  11. http://tass.com/sport/974231 this will be the end of the end for us, without NHL players our level is significantly lower but if we will have to send a team also without the KHL players from Slovan Bratislava and other KHL clubs we better already announce our withdrawal from the tournament...
  12. Nordic Combined at the Winter Olympic Games 2018 PyeongChang (KOR) - 14 February 2018 - 22 February 2018 Totallympics Results Thread
  13. so a possible top 20 for us assuming the circumstances
  14. yeah, well... it´s from 1994 when we had as a "newby" to play the "C" category (nowadays Division II) world championships, because only CZE was allowed as the succesor country of Czechoslovakia to play directly in top division, same as Russia from ex-USSR....you can imagine the feelings of ours and ex-sovietic teams like BLR, UKR, KAZ or LAT to be send so down and to imagine the feelings of all other nations which suddenly got these opponents in their lower divisions, ofc at least we asked to host the tournament we won and the next year the same in "B" category here the video about the 1994 C category world championships, some teams never saw so much spectators in a hockey match, some teams played for the first time in front of such atmosphere for example Bulgaria our first opponent (the match ended 20:0) you can see at 28:20 in the video and the images after the last final win over Belarus from 51:20
  15. that's what scares me the most on it. That it´s the federation who ordered it I sincerely hope that no, because, our hockey don´t need another such slap...nowadays with all problems we had, at least the jerseys were something we could be still proud of it
  16. Hope they will read the comments and redesign it, because apparently I am not the only one to be so hardly disappointed by this design
  17. IIHF just published better pics of the jerseys. And yes the Slovakian one is just a total puke. This is just ... oh dear ! please redesign them ! PLEASE ! Group A Group B Group C
  18. Olympic jerseys ready Nike’s sparkling collection for PyeongChang 2018 Group A The game jerseys produced by Nike for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games’ ice hockey tournaments have been released for the 13 participating countries. In the pursuit of gold, generations of designers, explorers and tinkerers have sought a magic formula. For athletic apparel, that formula often comes from a just-right combination of fit and weight. When that balance is perfected, critical grams are shaved (after all, triumph comes in the tightest of margins) and athletes are free of distractions. This is paramount because when athletes look and feel good, they play well. Nowhere is this clearer than in winter sports, such as ice hockey. In a word, Nike’s latest national team hockey jerseys represent alchemy. “It’s what most inspired us to look at the jersey as a whole and transform it into something special,” says Scott Toudjine-Williams, Nike’s Senior Creative Director for Olympics Apparel. Part of that involved upgrading to a lightweight and breathable ripstop material and incorporating more mesh (for example, in the collar) to increase ventilation. Group B But this idea of alchemy truly comes to life in two major ways: First, in the graphic trim package. “To us, this is game-changing!” says Toudjine-Williams. “Elevating the fonts, crests and numbers takes us to another level of performance and visual standpoint.” Here’s how they did it: A shift to single-layer laser-perforated numbers (instead of layering up heavy twill) that they applied by heat (rather than stitching them down), both of which increased breathability and articulation. Doing away with the previous large, heavy centre-front crest in favour of a small, intricate, badge (select teams were moved to a new configuration led by country name rather than their crest), which reduced weight, resulting in better articulation for the athlete. Consolidating fonts across kits. (Though select teams got a unique font.) Further, the idea of alchemy involves transforming base metals into gold. “It’s all about creating an extremely valuable and desired outcome,” says Toudjine-Williams. This element of the theme comes to life with the following films and flicker capabilities employed throughout the jersey: Amplification of each team’s colours through a cascading gradient. An expanded colour palette that includes secondary and tertiary colours. A new blade Swoosh (inspired by a hockey skate blade) with chrome flicker that sparkles under the arena lights. The flicker film (rather than heavy twill) addition to the top of the base for the crest and numbers increases vibrancy. Injected silicon molds make the trims pop. 13 countries will compete for gold in the men’s and/or women’s ice hockey tournaments: Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Japan, Korea, Norway, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States. All of them will have a set of at least two different jersey designs. The full sets will later be published on pyeongchang2018.iihf.hockey. Group C
  19. yes, all jerseys are a bit weird, but well, lets wait to see them on the ice. maybe it will look better than it look now. But the SVK jersey is really awful. I miss the emblem we used to have in our jerseys since the late 90´s. It was something easy recognizable everywhere, now with only the name of the country in Slovak language and the small emblem on the chest, it look like kinda weird retro attempt of the 1994 Lillehammer jerseys , really awful, I don´t like this jersey at all, I can not believe they allowed them to do it. I WANT BACK Our normal jerseys of the 2000´s or the one from Sochi with the complete national anthem lyrics as the striping on the jersey https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/slovakia-olympic-jerseys-national-anthem-lyrics-striping-photo-175146141--nhl.html
  20. Nike presented the Ice Hockey jerseys for the PyeongChang Olympics... I can´t The Slovak jersey is so atrocious and awful..we used to have one of the best hockey jerseys, in Sochi we had definitely the prettiest but now..oh dear, this is just so disappointing, looks like the technicians from Nike worked on the design for only some 5 minutes or so..very disappointed by this ! I really didn´t expected this https://news.nike.com/news/nike-new-national-federation-hockey-jerseys
