Our athletes learnt about the boycott exactly 13th May, LA84 started 28th July, many were already peaking their shapes for the games when some commie dude suddenly announced in the TV news that nobody will be send to LA, because our beloved saviors from USSR warned us of the "very probable" lack of security of our athletes in LA... Our NOC (as slovak successor of the former TCH NOC) btw last year officially apologized individually to all our athletes who lost the chance to compete at the Olympics in 1984

2005, well, you´ll certainly notice many changes, the city almost completely transformed during the last decade...sadly less green, more buildings No idea when we´ll open our borders, but it doesn´t look to happen soon. The 2nd and 3rd phase of restrictions lifting started officially by past midnight, for example the churches are now open (but still under very strict hygienical measures, distancing and limited amount of people at one time, 1 person per 25 meter square) also ZOO´s, castles and other touristic attractions are open since today (again under strict measures) and Taxi´s finally are allowed to work from today again (again strict measures must be applied) and the most important, the pubs with outdoor terraces are now open but again under strict distance and hygienical measures, the measures are controlled by the police

Yep that´s true and it is the best possible decision, because this will allow teams to ice their NHLers. We started to worry a bit, after Bettman launched his ideas to restart the NHL season in July/August this year. With the postponement of the qualifiers, all teams may again be hoping for their stars from the overseas ice rinks to come help their countries in the battle for Beijing. Obviously the postponement must still be approved by the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee.
