  2. Official website: https://riyadh2023.com SportAccord website: https://www.worldcombatgames.sport
  3. will be granted provisional membership in the WCF.
  4. How often do you guys think about Rome?
  5. is focused on landing the European Games and (possibly) the ANOC World Beach Games.
  6. The number of mixed events on the program is interesting considering the CIJM hasn’t been in a hurry to add mixed events to the Mediterranean Games.
  7. Every federation should do this: https://www.canoeicf.com/sites/default/files/paris2024_csp_qualification_qa_22082023.pdf It might also answer questions people have asked before.
  8. In a very entertaining fashion as well. Sarem was down 0-2 in both his semifinal and final, and came back to win both 3-2. This is Syria’s second ever gold medal at the Mediterranean Beach Games. Their other gold medal was also in beach wrestling.
  9. with a nice 5th place result on the men’s side. It would be cool if they could challenge for a podium next cycle.
  10. This is why I support the idea of moving away from weight classes in combat sports and strength events. The purpose of weight classes should be to allow people to compete fairly at their natural body weight. Instead, athletes/coaches/nations have developed all sorts of extreme methods to gain/cut weight. It isn’t healthy for athletes, and it honestly defeats the purpose of weight classes. I’m not sure how feasible it is to do away with weight classes, but I would agree with those saying other classification systems should be trialed.
  11. I want one of them to take the jersey by a few seconds, and then Kuss to take it back by making an unannounced sprint at the bonus. Maximum inter-team drama
  12. Curling Mixed Doubles added to the program of the next Winter University Games.
  13. The Arctic Winter Games mostly a North America team. The Sami are the active delegation outside the continent. There was an effort to hold a “Black Sea Games.” However, there was only ever one edition (2009). @mpjmcevoy Europe and Africa don’t really do sub-regional multi-sport games like Pan America and Asia. Africa is likely limited by logistics, while Europe seems to be caught up in traditional continent-wide competitions.
  14. I wonder if it has anything to do with the athlete welfare crisis tearing through federations?
  15. Just catching up on the Formula Kite replays… You gotta feel for Denis Taradin . He was two points off the lead after day 1 (race 4). He then had a wipeout in the final leg of race 5 while challenging for the lead, which he followed up with a wipeout right at the start of race 6. As if that wasn’t unfortunate enough, he had regrouped and found his way back to the front runners in race 7 only to have an kite issue on the last leg, which decommissioned him painfully close to the finish line (though he did eventually manage to finish the race). What an unbelievable and unfortunate start to the day. Despite the very low entry numbers, I’ve quite enjoyed watching Formula Kite. I excited to see its debut at the Olympics.
  16. I don’t really feel like that makes the pitiful participation rate any better.
  17. Hard to tell how good the standard was Basketball 3x3. There were missed shots right and left, along with some low scores. It might be worth noting that none of the NOCs that won medals in Oran entered a team in this competition.
  18. gets the double in basketball. One of the Croatians made a smooth two-point buzzer beater in men’s final, but it wasn’t enough to tie the game. Still, salute
  19. @hckošice Slovakian officials met with the CEO and Winter Games Director of the FISU. No mention of a bid, but it seems odd to have a random meeting like this. (Not that those don’t happen for various reasons)
  20. v. going into OT for bronze in women’s 3x3
  21. I don’t really get why 3x3 Basketball is on the program. It was already contested at the Oran 2022 Mediterranean Games. Now we have a smaller field of entries and it feels repetitive. The venue was a good choice for what it’s worth.
  22. ends the session with their first gold medal of the Games. It took three days, but better late than never I suppose
