  1. We’re guaranteed a v. final in women’s speed, since the semifinals are v. and v.
  2. Nice to see fielding teams for the European Division C Championships.
  3. CONCACAF and AFC look to be pro-biennial World Cup, UEFA and CONMEBOL look to be anti-biennial World Cup. It looks more and more like the future of football and the World Cup will decided by the OFC and CAF. Of course that is all dependent on member associations voting according to the will of their continental bodies.
  4. The ISF U15 World School Sport Games begin this week. This is the first time the ISF has sanctioned a multi-sports games for U15 student athletes. Unfortunately, only 35 countries decided to send athletes to the Games, and among those many sent limited delegations. It’s hard to gauge whether this is because of the proximity to the Olympics/Paralympics, COVID-19 pandemic, or the “newness” of these Games. I like the ISF model of student/youth athlete multi-sports games (making the Games both an educational and sporting experience for students), so hopefully their next projects attract more interest. Anyways, for those interested in checking out the Games this week; here’s a link: https://events.isfsports.org/u15-world-school-sports-games/
  5. I couldn’t find a statement from the fistball IF, but according the IWGA the final qualified teams are… Men’s: Women’s:
  6. Some qualification updates via the IWGA website… Men’s Barebow: Women’s Barebow: Men’s Recurve: Women’s Recurve: Finswimming Men’s Relays: Finsswimming Women’s Relays:
  7. I have no clue. I know the sport had a rough time at Wroclaw 2017, but cutting a whole gender and a whole discipline seems harsh in that case. I’m sure it has to do with something else.
  8. Judo (Mixed Team Event only) and Breaking were also confirmed to the sports program this week.
  9. A small bit of personal news, if y’all don’t mind me sharing… I made my debut at Around the Rings this week. You can check out my first article here if you’d like: https://www.infobae.com/aroundtherings/articles/2021/09/09/vaccinations-to-be-required-for-participants-at-the-2021-winter-universiade-in-switzerland/ As always, I appreciate the support I have received over the last few years from this community.
  10. There was a lengthy press release about television rights earlier this week: https://www.infobae.com/aroundtherings/press-releases/2021/09/08/television-distribution-available-for-cali-2021-junior-pan-american-games/ From what I gather, and I could be wrong, those in the Americas will all be able to watch livestreams through the PanamSports Channel (app or website). Plus, the television signals will be FTA worldwide.
  11. Published within 30 minutes of each other, and showed up one after the other in my feed
  12. My guess is , because the government position is that is a part of Spain, thus they can’t play “themselves.”
  13. Yeah, I was going to comment last week on how Totallympics felt a bit like a ghost town after the craziness that was the Olympics. I was hoping people would stay around and be active for at least the Paralympics as well, but there only seemed to mild interest in those on here. With both the Olympics and Paralympics now completed, it might be a slow few weeks as the build up the winter season begins. I’d like to be surprised though
  14. What a fantastic edition of the Paralympic Games! It’s sad to see Tokyo 2020 come to close because I have throughly enjoyed both the Olympic and Paralympic Games this year. Unfortunately, I had to miss most of the second week of the Paralympics due to the start of a new semester at my university. I’ll definitely go back and watch what I missed at some point. Now, it’s time to reflect on this summer’s sporting action and prepare for what will hopefully be an equally great season of winter sports.
  15. I know that the classification process was highly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, so that may be why there has been so many classification controversies at these Games. I think the lack of major international competition is also to blame for the controversies as well.
