  1. Super G rescheduled from Jan. 14 to Jan. 17. Adjust your viewing calendars accordingly
  2. Southern California is currently experiencing one of the worst fire events in my lifetime caused by an extreme wind event
  3. They'll be missed, as it is a fun time to look back on the year. Honestly, it just seems like forum participation has dropped off a bit for the time being.
  4. It might be easier if, at the conclusion of this year's awards, @vinipereira asks for volunteers to track possible nominations, and then splits them into small groups for each category, so that interested users only have to follow one, two or possibly three categories for the first round instead of making nominations in each one. All users would remain eligible to vote in the second round.
  5. Yeah, Anora has been really hard for me to place in my personal rankings. It's a fun and enjoyable film for the most part, but it didn't quite generate the same awe or excitement from me that a few others have this season. Still, I was quite shocked to see Madison lose yesterday because she did a deliver a phenomenal performance in my opinion. The best actress "race" still feels rather open to me, which adds a bit of suspense to each body's nominations.
  6. I went to a screening and Q&A of I’m Still Here in November. I thought she was really good as Eunice Paiva. Definitely a welcome surprise (though I still need to see a few of the other nominated performances).
  7. I might toss in a few for the less popular categories.
  8. 10 days to go! The organizing committee has uploaded some teaser info about the opening ceremony: https://wugtorino2025.com/en/opening-ceremony/
  9. HELLO, from 2024. How’s the future Totallympics? I still have a few more minutes in 2024, so I’ll post my annual “final post of the year.” It won’t be too long this year, but I couldn’t let the tradition die For me, this year is best described as a “roller coaster.” I entered the year injured, unemployed and anxious, but left healthy (at least relatively), employed and partying with family and friends. I’m thankful for how it went because I know there are those much less fortunate than me. There are too many highlights, with too little time, for me to cover my favorite moments from the year, but amongst the coolest things in life was working alongside a few other Totallympics members for the second time in my life. It was an extraordinary summer full of sports, emotional highs and fraternity. You guys have always made me fell welcomed, even at my most annoying points in life, and I remain thankful to have found this community. I wish everyone good health, stability and positive professional developments in 2025. Here’s to another year!!!
  10. The Youth Olympic Games have used the group format before due to a large number of entries. The 2023 Winter EYOF also used a two group format in the mixed team event. Still, it's cool to see so many nations registered for the Asian Winter Games.
  11. It's also on the Olympics YouTube channel.
  12. Probably my personal runner-up, but there’s no doubt that ceremony had a lot of influence over the multi-sports games opening ceremonies that followed.
  13. Finally, another elusive Rio 2016 opening ceremony fan I think many people like the ceremony, but I rarely see it as a #1 on people's lists (where it is on mine).
  14. With the 2024 Bolivarian Games done and dusted, I thought it'd be a good time to look at next year's slate of international multi-sport games. Here's what I have written down on my personal schedule: January 13 January 23 Winter University Games February 6 February 17 Invictus Games February 7 February 14 Asian Winter Games February 9 February 16 Winter EYOF March 23 March 30 CISM Winter World Games May 17 May 30 World Masters Games May 26 May 31 Games of Small States of Europe June 27 July 6 World Police and Fire Games June 29 July 9 Pacific Mini Games July 12 July 18 Island Games July 16 July 27 Summer University Games July 20 July 26 Summer EYOF August 7 August 17 The World Games August 9 August 23 Junior Pan American Games October 18 October 30 Central American Games November 15 November 26 Summer Deaflympics December 9 December 20 SEA Games TBC TBC Islamic Solidarity Games TBC TBC Asian Youth Games I'm not sure about the status of the Caribbean Games and Central American and Caribbean Beach Games, so those might eventually find a spot on the calendar as well (I just haven't seen anything confirmed yet.)
  15. already snagged one of The World Games 2025 quota places @PHI2019: https://floorball.sport/2024/12/10/philippines-qualify-for-the-world-games-2025/
  16. Interesting day in Muaythai... were the only NOCs to send female athletes in the sport. However, they split the medals evenly, with both NOCs winning two golds.
  17. Host countries for the next few editions of the Arab Games: https://oca.asia/news/5689-bahrain-and-jordan-to-host-arab-games-in-2031-and-2035-respectively.html 2027 - 2031 - 2035 -
  18. ...and a gold medal in men's basketball 3x3 solves that problem for
  19. I'm not familiar with the minimum participation rules and medal allocation procedures set by ODEBO. Maybe @Fer GUA can give a better answer. I do know that minimum participation rules can affect viability of events and/or medal allocations at the Commonwealth Games, Central American and Caribbean Games and Mediterranean Games.
  20. The opening ceremony was postponed from yesterday to today after poor weather conditions.
  21. Well, if you're only going to have two people in a weightclass... https://www.bolivarianos2024.pe/competencias/esquema/1/competencia/521 You might as well make it one of the best head-to-head competitions
  22. Four events with medals awarded halfway into the first day, and already six NOCs are on the medal table
  23. First day of sporting action today. There's livestreams available on the official website: https://www.bolivarianos2024.pe/envivo/ PanamSports Channel should be broadcasting events as well.
