If the temperature were 3-4 degrees lower, I'd say we would stand an outside chance of challenging Germany. But unlike yesterday, the sky in Cortina is cloudy and the temperature did not go down that much. I'd worry about not messing up and defending a podium position rather than about beating Germany.

Siccome non si possono scrivere altro che banalità (tipo quella sopra), dico che mi dispiace per Goggia, che si è mangiata l'oro in super G per la seconda volta dopo Pyeongchang (colpa sua, ci mancherebbe), ma soprattutto per Pirovano, che ha fatto un errore abbastanza banale in alto e probabilmente si è giocata la medaglia. Alla fine le sono mancati 24 centesimi per il bronzo.

Poi per il mezzo grado in più o in meno bisogna sempre prendere le previsioni con cautela, oltre a tenere presente che a seconda del punto esatto del rilevamento ci possono essere piccole variazioni. Quanto ai 2,3 gradi di Bormio, secondo me quel dato è stato preso (un po') prima della partenza, durante la gara secondo me si era abbastanza al di sopra di quel numero. Detto questo, non sono un meteorologo, non vorrei che le mie competenze in materia venissero sovrastimate

I followed the competition with an Italian commentary, and the commentators, while raving both programs*, agreed LFB and Cizeron are the better skaters overall (mostly because Cizeron is better than Bates) and ultimately deserved to have the edge. I don't really consider myself an expert and maybe I was conditioned by the commentary, but I felt the French program was better, although less original than the Americans'. So imagine my astonishment when I entered this topic and found out that the general consensus is I had just witnessed a robbery *They actually expressed some doubts about a couple of LFB/Cizeron's elements, but agreed there was no significant mistake upon review.

In generale è abbastanza affidabile (oggi ha azzeccato in pieno le temperature a Cortina e l'evoluzione tra l'inizio e la fine delle gare di slittino). La cosa migliore sarebbe imparare a leggere direttamente i modelli, perché i siti meteo ogni tanto incappano in sfondoni abbastanza clamorosi (qualche giorno fa lo stesso 3bmeteo dava un andamento assurdo della temperatura a Cortina, che si è rimangiato solo il giorno stesso), però ovviamente è anche molto più complesso. A meno che uno non ne abbia bisogno per scopi particolari o non sia appassionato della materia, secondo me non vale la pena.

Il 2 di Pirovano ha una controindicazione: non avrà praticamente riferimenti. Che è un problema da poco se il super G è tracciato con la stessa benevolenza di quello maschile di oggi (non a caso Allegre con l'1 ha sfiorato la medaglia), ma se dovesse esserci qualche trappola potrebbe essere deleterio. Se pensiamo alle condizioni della neve, nel complesso le italiane hanno pescato bene, con Brignone 6 e Goggia 9 (Curtoni 11, ma francamente sarei molto stupito di trovarla sul podio). Però bisogna considerare la variabile della visibilità. Il tempo domani a Cortina dovrebbe migliorare nel corso della mattinata, quindi i numeri più alti potrebbero trovare più luce.
