  1. I don't know if it's just a matter of skis or if there's also an issue with the athletes' physical condition, but the skiing speed of the entire team is unbelievably bad.
  2. Vittozzi blows up completely in the second part of the final lap, she is going to be 5th.
  3. Michelon gold and Kirkeeide silver. It's Minkkinen vs. Jeanmonnot for bronze.
  4. Vittozzi is going to be 4th or 5th Her skiing was just not there.
  5. Vittozzi 10/10, but she's just skiing too slow. Michelon can win gold.
  6. Jeanmonnot could win with 9/10.
  7. Wierer out of the sprint and the pursuit races. Abysmal Olympics for our team after the mixed relay
  8. Jeanmonnot got Lampic’s train in the 2nd lap, that could make all the difference in the world.
  9. The weather should be quite consistent, but you're right, a small increase or decrease of the snow/rainfall could make a bit of a difference. On the other hand, it should be easier for technical staffs to prepare the equipment, compare to the sunny and warmer conditions of the last few days.
  10. Apparently the course is not 7.5 km, but 7.7 km.
  11. Vinatzer was very fast in SL, but at one point he started having one DNF after another. Then he became very fast in GS, but finally he learned how to have one DNF after another in this discipline as well.
  12. This is absolutely true. With these 3 legs + Gismondi at her best, we would have challenged for podium.
  13. Sweden is taking silver, but not more than that. It's a shame Ganz lost that much time in the final part of her leg (which was still good overall, of course), because Di Centa would probably still be with Ryytty at this point.
  14. Well it's not like we are playing for podium here, but in order to maximize the result, being with Finland and Switzerland before at the exchange could have allowed Di Centa to do some old-fashioned wheel sucking. Karlsson is not making up enough time to catch Norway.
  15. How the hell did Ganz lose that much time in the final km?
  16. Trust me, they have struggled for a loooong time. There was also quite a bit of drama before the Olympics because of a controversial selection.
  17. We are going to lose time in every leg Maaaaaybe Ganz could limit the losses if she does not blow up, as she showed very good form in the sprint, but that's it.
  18. The only explanation I can think of for Braathen's massive lead — aside from him being very good, of course — is that sometimes #1 has a big extra grip even compared to #2, and it's not about the snow deteriorating. Sometimes there is a layer of softer, slightly wetter snow on the surface, which provides extra grip. #1 takes advantage of it, skis it away and #2 suddenly has way less grip.
  19. Brilliant first leg by 21-year-old De Martin Pinter We're obviously going nowhere today, but it's good to see our most talented skier up there at the front. Hopefully the equipment will be as good tomorrow in the men's race as it is today.
  20. The state of our women's curling team is depressing, especially considering what it was a few years ago
  21. I don’t even think the snow is deteriorating that fast, it’s not like gaps are increasing that much. If we take into account that these athletes are generally weaker that the first starters, you could argue the conditions are pretty much the same.
  22. I think slalom is an inherently unpredictable race, so an upset there is 'less of an upset' than in other races, if that makes sense. DNFs are very frequent, the course and the slope can make a huge difference, the bib (or the starting order, more accurately, as it's mostly relevant in the 2nd run) can also be a factor. Shiffrin, for instance, in spite of being clearly the greatest slalom skier of all time, has never won more than 7 in a row, I believe. Even at her best, she never managed to win all the slaloms in one season (she won every time she started in 2015/16, but she missed half the races because of an injury).
