That's true for individuals, but just like in cycling, all it takes is a few athletes taking turns. Basically, half the pack threw away a chance at a medal to avoid doing a grand total of two turns.

This is a sport that benefits from longer distances (which is true for other sports as well in my opinion, although TV networks seem to push for shorter formats). Longer ski mountaineering competitions also allow for incredible landscapes and can appeal to people who may not necessarily be obsessed with the result.

È vero che a un certo punto c'era anche la possibilità di arrivare a 30 e girano i coglioni a elica anche a me per oggi, però il paragone con Parigi non regge.

I don't give a flying fuck about the medal table. What difference does it make if, say, the men's relay was Netherlands-South Korea-Italy instead of South Korea-Netherlands-Italy? I agree the short track team's performance was disappointing overall.

Giornata pessima, per quanto mi riguarda resa particolarmente amara dall'episodio di Giacomel. Posso accettare le sconfitte e gli errori, ma un fatto del genere mi lascia addosso un senso di incompiutezza e di ingiustizia. Tra l'altro la prova di Lollobrigida sui 1.500 mi fa guardare con ben poco ottimismo anche alla mass di domani.

Io non capirò mai questa roba di stare a contare le medaglie come se fossero patate. Giacomel in testa alla mass dopo due poligoni, avendo superato indenne lo scoglio del tiro a terra, sta male. Non è che fa una fesseria, spadella in piedi, cade o altro, per cui uno ci rimane male ma se ne fa una ragione perché è colpa sua: sta male -. È una delusione enorme e una colossale ingiustizia in una gara che peraltro avrebbe avuto una valenza enorme per lui, che è uno dei più grandi talenti degli sport invernali italiana e fin qui aveva bucato clamorosamente l'Olimpiade in casa. Che cosa c'entra mettersi lì con il pallottoliere a contare le medaglie e sentenziare che "va bene così". Poi per carità, ognuno guarda le gare come gli pare ed è lecito anche fare i tifosi contabili, ma trovo allucinante che dopo grandi vittorie il commento sia "eh ma non arriveremo a X medaglie, eh ma non arriveremo a Y ori, eh ma il settore maschile" e dopo grandi delusioni sia "va beh ma tanto arriviamo a X medaglie".

Sto bestemmiando ininterrottamente da mezz'ora. Per più di metà una bellissima Olimpiade per l'Italia. Gli ultimi giorni veramente una merda. Rischiamo di chiudere sulle note più meste.

QFM's skiing time is some 47 seconds faster than Dale's. Guys who are chasing tend to be faster, but man, this is quite the testament to the French staff's work, because Dale is clearly the better skier of the two (QFM is the better biathlete overall, of course).
