  1. This name is definitely worth mention. There's no limit. https://www.buenosaires2018.com/results/en/athletics/athlete-profile-n1016655-akoon-akoon-akoon-akoon.htm?lng=en
  2. A while ago I had a dream at night they added 6x18m Butterfly to the Swimming programme. Interested in that as well?
  3. You've already commented on it, and seen it (above your post). http://totallympics.com/index.php?/topic/766-athletics-2018-discussion-thread/&do=findComment&comment=112767
  4. Not difficult if not even China seems to care this time...
  5. Any specific reason why there are/were only 11 spots for fencers in Women's Sabre and especially Men's Épée?
  6. Well, you could argue Artistic and Rhythmic already have their team event so if anything, I'd rather like a separate Trampoline team event.
  7. Netherlands vs Algeria should be interesting too.
  8. After 7 events, the medal table could be mistaken for the one for Tank Biathlon, especially with 2 golds for and . https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tank_biathlon
  9. Yes, let's watch Weightlifting instead - but with 5 women only.
  10. At least those stage names sound better than most race horse names. Seriously, how do they come up with them? Well Done de la Roche, Chequers Play The Game...
  11. Well, that wasn't too hard to predict that athletes from countries like Yemen or Djibouti losing their Judo bouts in about 10 seconds...
  12. I hope no Italian here is watching Swimming because according to the commentators, Thomas "catch-on" (Ceccon) was underway.
  13. Actually, he was very lucky because his side of the bracket only had Grenada (Semifinal). The other half of the bracket had Puerto Rico, Russia, Egypt and Azerbaijan. Unfortunately, less "exotic" nations have qualified for Nanjing and now as well.
  14. It wasn't any different in Singapore and Nanjing.
  15. Yes, but chances are we will see a distorted medal table if we have and in some sports and in others. Having for any entity winning medals is annoying enough as it is.
  16. If we consider Japan a lock for the team gold, then only 3 individual golds would be very disappointing for them.
  17. Yes, which is why GB is the worst of the "big" teams to allow such a performance (1996) to happen. Wouldn't happen to Russia, USA, China etc. and the trend can easily go on a downwards spiral again because everything is based on funding and target performances as the base for funding for the next Olympic cycle. If for example rowing remains in the state it is now in Tokyo, I don't think it's going to be a good sign. For a flagship sport no less. Then again, GB has the tendency of not taking (certain) world championships very seriously, which is annoying me. Also for wrestling, GB had some kind of history in Freestyle at least but as with many sports (Water Polo comes to mind), they let interest slip a bit ages ago. It's not just wrestling, GB is also non-existent in Volleyball, Handball, to an extend Basketball and Water Polo. So, team sports. There's just no interest in certain sports.. at all. Italy on the other hand is at least present everywhere and can surprise on a good day. I can't think of a sport where Italy has no interest in. Perhaps Table Tennis and Badminton are Italy's worst (Olympic) sports.
  18. At least Italy has had some decent results in recent years, mainly thanks to Chamizo, while GB doesn't even have any WC participants in a sport with 18 Olympic classes.
  19. That wouldn't be half as interesting as if a heavyweight wrestler or weightlifter achieved that.
  20. I know Desgranges failed early but whatever happened to Sean McColl?
  21. If Italy's performance was a disaster, the GB's was abysmal. Which it actually was.
  22. The knock-off system in jumping and throwing event was unfair. For example Vadlejch's best would have been enough for 2nd place (ranked 5th) or Perkovic would have won with her best score. Why was that necessary? To have one from each continent among the best 4? They didn't have that in running events. Most points possible (15) for the Americas in Men's 3,000m, for example.
