  1. Vlhova throwing away a potential podium with that mistake.
  2. I guess I'm alone in my opinion of liking the NASCAR play-off system? Not that we should have it in other series as well, but I like different series having different systems, sort of.
  3. Gauche again into the nets, and again apparently uninjured.
  4. Shiffrin as shy as I've ever seen her when asked on live TV if she could speak some German "because I've heard you're learning it a little"
  5. Good, that means it's probably just a matter of waiting for them to fix it instead of having to do anything by ourselves
  6. Right, it's not just me then! I've been getting annoyed while watching several sports on it, low quality, slow loading, random pausing every now and then (and the internet connection on my desktop computer is more than excellent, that's not the problem - all kinds of other streams work fine as always). Luckily things like alpine skiing and biathlon I can watch live on German TV, since Eurosport is busy showing one tennis match on both ES1 and ES2 half the time.
  7. Arturs Darznieks must be one of my favourite co-commentators in the sport He's commentating with such a 'dry' sense of humour, I love it.
  8. But that was already on Friday and Saturday, although they accidentally named it downhill. This is not even a giant slalom in disguise, it's simply a giant slalom
  9. Right, time for the super-S (since it's more like a super-slalom...if only there was a name for the event between slalom and speed )
  10. The first one isn't exactly a 'mishap' as much as a tragedy, the last one would not be a mishap neither since who cares Semantics, I know, but since the question suggests all answers are mishaps I thought I'd mention it
  11. Yep. One of his sons, Fabien Claude, got his very first World Cup podium and his very first 20/20 shooting the day after hearing his father was missing and most likely gone. He was the father of three biathletes by the way, not two.
  12. Former Dutch international Rob Rensenbrink has passed away aged 72, after fighting a muscle disease for years. He is, at least here, mostly known for the 1978 World Cup Final in and against Argentina. After days of harrassment (think stuff like locals trying everything to make as much noise as they can outside the hotel, all kinds of threats and so on), the Dutch team still managed to fight back to 1-1 thanks to a 82nd minute goal by Dick Nanninga. In the dying seconds, Rensenbrink had the chance to make history, but hit the post...leading to extra time in which Argentina won.
  13. Goes to show how interested I've been in the Sebring endurance race
  14. It's because outside of the US some non-die hard motorsports fans still like the Indy 500, it's famous and all...some have maybe heard of the Daytona 500 but won't really watch it or ask "isn't that that thing with Earnhardt?". I think pretty much none of the people who are not hardcore motorsports fans here have never even heard about the Daytona and Sebring 24 hours. I can honestly say I've watched tons and tons and tons of races in my life, but those two 24h races are both not on the list apart from maybe a few minutes and then tuning out. Bathurst 100 seems awfully short
  15. About freaking time he won a stage there He has finished top-10 in 19 (!) stages there, including eight 2nd or 3rd places, but without ever winning a race - and no, it's generally not a very strong field. Also Algeria's first ever stage win in the Bongo, about time.
  16. Is there really no better way in shorttrack to show the classification leader than those red caps? I mean, you're there with some awesome custom helmet design...but if you're doing great, you have to ride around with a lame piece of red cloth covering it
  17. If you read it as disqualifying the athletic ability required, go ahead. It's entirely wrong, since that's not at all what it says or means and I am very well aware they have superb abilities like anyone in the top level of sports, but feel free to read it how you want.
