  1. Aaaaand the terrorists are in. Also, Trump's expected attack on Pence has started.
  2. Wow, this is utterly bizarre. Trump supporters have turned Washington DC into scenes one is more used to seeing in third world country coups. Completely absurd, the Capitol being stormed by these semi-terrorists is one of the most insane things I've seen in quite a while, at least in a (so-called) developed country.
  3. Starting to think the slow start in the Netherlands might not have been as bad as people thought it was, considering the problems countries that started as fast as possible seem to be having. Even worse, apparently in Florida people are sleeping on the street just to get a vaccine?! First come, first served is insane in a situation like this, just call people up based on registries or something and start with that.
  4. Thank you, Mister President, for this January 5th 2020 statement on something Pence supposedly said yesterday or the day before.
  5. Ah, thanks No I knew it was an exercise but other than situps and pushups I don't know the name of any of them, so the fault was on me and my knowledge
  6. Awesome win for Diggins, and the way she finishes basically every race easily makes her one of my favourite athletes, always absolutely all-in
  7. 'did chins'? I'm sure it must be something like situps or some exercise, but I can't really figure out which one
  8. Case in point: on the biggest Dutch forum, someone who had been a well-known moderator (different than being the owner/admin of course, but that's besides the point) for 17 years hadn't posted for a few weeks (which is a rarity) and in the past weekend it was found out he had passed away, only 49 years old. Things can happen suddenly, and after the initial shock people would want to know if and how a site is going to continue.
  9. 11, 12 and 10 darts to win set 6, dear lord. Highest ever set average, 136.6
  10. Price is playing and especially finishing at an insane level.
  11. Gary is a slight anti-vaxxer "Yeah...I don't really believe in vaccines, I'm old school." Ugh.
  12. I saw a good bet for Manificat having the fastest time today at odds of 9, but couldn't bet (not more than 1 or 2 euros anyway since my account is completely limited in the one bookmaker that had this bet). As expected after yesterday's performance, he was really strong indeed, but I think Spitsov managed to beat him by 0,3 seconds
  13. Wait, what? I had a yellow stone here laying around to show at border control when entering the US, you're saying that won't work?
  14. This helped so much (although Dragonball Z in my case, and a bit older age) Which is why it's sad to see more and more children's programs nowadays being dubbed in Dutch instead of simply having subtitles, every single bit of research ever shows that subtitles instead of voice-overs greatly improve language skills..
  15. Which is why I always liked when they were somewhere deep in some Mauritanian desert and it was waiting for some news out of that vast sea of nothing
  16. I believe they used to have some short Watts in between the commercials (apart from the regular Watts broadcasts), but that has totally disappeared
  17. Which one of these happened after the finish? It must have been a push that wasn't shown, because right after the finish Belov tapped his shoulder (presumably to apologize) and he just shrug it off a bit harsher than one normally would. Curious what happened afterwards then.
  18. Yep, although Belov was definitely the one who shut the door in a fashion that would get you a penalty in other sports. Belov defended too aggressively, Chervotkin attacked too aggressively, I guess the latter mattered more for the judges. Bit unfair, but sure.
  19. Interestingly enough this might have taught me more about English than about Portuguese, which I find just as valuable, so thank you The examples did definitely help in understanding what you meant, it was an interesting read and I'll surely keep it in mind
  20. At least there's no suggestion it has anything to do with Paris anymore nowadays
  21. Any chance you could give a small example or two of this?
  22. I sometimes think in English, especially when communicating with our resident Brazilian cross-country skier*. Plenty of times I notice that even though my grammar is very far from perfect, I find certain things to be easier to discuss in English than in Dutch, like when we're talking about the more serious sides of life. Which is something I find both weird and interesting, maybe it's because I'm much more used to doing that in English than in Dutch since often those are not necessarily things I talk much about with my Dutch 'social circle'. *Who is supposed to (and does) speak more and more Dutch these days, while I throw in a few Portuguese sentences here and there.
